The Ladies' Aid of Knox Church

Tasker-Gibbings. — A, wedding of
great interest in this district took
place at the (Parsonage of Ontario st.
United Church, Cilnton, at 12 o'clock,
noon, on Monday, July 8, when Eve-
lyn'Elisabeth IGibibings, daughter of
Mr. and Mts. John G..Gi;bbings of
Hullett became the bride of John Les-
lie 'Tacker, son of the late Richard
Tasker, of Stanley, and Mrs. Luke
Lawson, of Clinton. 'Rev. A. E. 'Doan
performed the ceremony, The brides-
maid was Miss Marie Rapson, of Har -
lock and the groomsman was Mr.
Warren 'Gi'bbings, brother of the
bride. The bride was very 'becoming-
ly (dressed in sand .colored crepe de
chene, 'blue tricotine• coat, trinnned.
with fur. Her flowers were ferns and
rosebuds. The-bridesniaid wore a
beautiful gown of golden -rod crepe,
and carried a !bouquet of carnations
and delphiniums. After the wedding
dinner the happy couple left'o.0 a mo-
tor trip to Niagara Fall's. The best
wishes of a host of friends accompany
the bride and groom. Mr. and 'Mrs.
Tacker are expected to spend a day or
two at their homes here before leav-
ing on 'Friday for their new home in
Detroit. The bride was the cecipien't

honor by a number of her girl friends
last week.
The District annual meeting of the
West Huron 'Women's Ins'titu'te was
held in Londesiboro 'community hall
on Tuesday, Jutee 25th. There were
49 voting delegates and • a total at-
tendance of over 200. The morning
session opened at 10 a.m. With Mrs.
R. Phillips, Of Goderich, 'District
president, pres[cting,, Mlecting opened
by singing the Institute OdeMrs.
Davidson, of Dungannon, gave the
Scripture reading, after• which 'Miss
Proctor, of Belgrave, led in prayer.
The secretary's' report was read and
approved, The eleven branches rep-
resented gave their reports and all are
doing good work, We have 950
members, an increase of 15 over hast
year. There were 116 papers and ad-
dresses given and 1216 meetings held
with an attendance of 4,040. Money
raised during the year, 41'84.98, with
an expenditure pf 8.49. The Dis-
trict treastlrei•'s report was then given;
which the auditors in giving their re-
port found correct, ' The standing
committees then gave their reports.
The election of officers took place
with the following res•g t: President,

vice president, Mrs. Dan. Geddes,
Wingha'm; 2nd vice president, Mrs,

ham. We then adjourned for dinner.
A social hour was spent together at
which Mr, Adams, Reeve of Hullett,
welcomed the ladies to Londes'boro,

the Women's Institute,. Their motto
was "Home and Country," and their
'CONSTANCE.
