EGMOND V ILLE, The weekly meeting of the Y. P. S. C. E. of Egmordville United Church was held on Monday evening with Gertie Webster in the chair. The meeting opened with "0 Can- ada," followed by prayer by Mr. McDonald, The Scripture lesson was read by E. Nott, and "0 God our Help in Ages !Past," was then sung., A very interesting topic, "Citizen- ship," was ably taken by Mr. J. Love, after which there was .a short discussion on the topic, A . reading was given by 'Vera •Hudson which was enjoyed by all. McQuaid of Strat- ford spent the week end at the home of her son, Mr. James E. McQuaid. . 'Mr. George R. Holland, Jr., under- went a serious operation in St. Jos- eph's hospital, London, on Monday. At last reports he was doing as well as could be expected. The recent rains have left the roads open for cars again. Mr. Vincent_ McGrath of Windsor and Edward McGrath of St. Clements attended the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Peter McGrath, which took place last week. The Literary Society will hold their regular meeting on Friday evening. A good programme will be put on as usual, followed by a dance. DUBLIN. Fraser, who was the father o'f Mrs. John. L. Bell of the .3rd concession, died recently at Shake- speare, where he had been living for the past four years. lir. Fraser was 93' years of age and was in good health until three months ago. Be- sides his family, he is survived by four brothers, 15r. re, B. Fraser, of Stratford; James Fraser, Gunton. .\fan,:'Robert Fraser, Brooklyn N.Y,; who attended the funeral, and Alex. Fraser of New Hamburg. The fol- lowing obituary refers to Mr. Fraser: "There died at his home in Shakes- peare'an Saturday; January 5, on, „f North Easthope's oldest pioneers in the person of John Fraser. He was born in Glenquaich, Scotland, in 1836, and carie with his parents to Cana- da at the age of'ftve years, settling on the farm where his son Peter now re- sides on lot 19, concession 5, North 'Easthopc, At that time North East - hope was a primeval' forest and only with hard labor and much patience was the home hewn out of the heavily timbered acres.. All through his life one of the favorite occupations was the hewing down and clearing of those sturdy maples and beeches. Mr Fraser served for more than a quar- ter of a century on the township coun- cil and was also a member of the Perth Cotill ty Council for several years. He was also a director of tate South Easthope e Fire insurance and of the Tavistock Agricultur- al Society, In 1463 he was tnart'red to Miss Jessie McTavish who predeceas- ed hint by five years.
