Mr. Percy Taylor has purchased
the Dickson hone. Percy, certainly is
-not afraid of farming, as he is the
owner of three farms.
We regret to learn of the death of
an old resident, in the person of Mr.
-John Stafford, on Sunday evening,
Jan. 13th.
Miss Mary Dickson is spending the
week -end with Misses Edna and Mar-
, jorie Reid. . -
Mrs. Geo'rge Dickson attended the
.funeral of her friends, Miss Mary and
.Mr. Walter Swallow, on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs, Carman Swallow and
son John, of Thessulon, and sister,
Mrs. A. McNabb, of Thornhill, at-
tended the funeral of their sister Mary
.and ,brother Walter.
School re -opened on Monday of

Mr, and Mrs. J. ,Smillie have return-
ed from Embro where they were at-
tending the funeral of Mrs. Smillie's
sister.
Cars are not running 'now as the

Mr. and Mrs. Fingland were laid

coal for the past few days.
An old pioneer passed away on
Sunday evening in the person of Mr.
**John Stafford. He has not been in

The regular monthly meeting of
the W. M. S. of Duff's United
'.Church was held in the school -room
-af the church. on Wednesday after-
-noon, Janeary 12. There was a small
;attendance, owing to the severity of
the weather, only fifteen responding
to the roll call. Miss Simpson presid-
ed anis after the repeating of the
Lord's prayer in unison, Mis.s A.
Johnston read the Scripture lesson.
The topic was' taken from the new
Study Book on -Africa, "Drums in
Darkness." It was prepared by Mrs.
J. Lawson, with some of the members

vary sorry to hear of the death of Mr.
Nathaniel Sundercock which took
place lest week lir. Sundercock lived
for a number of years near ITarlock,

Our school opened on Monday with
a smaller attendance than usual as
there are still a few new cases of in-
fluenza breaking out
The sleighing is excellent since the
three day storm is over..Several cars
were tied up while the storm lasted
and there hs no one who will venture
out with a car until the snow ploughs
have the roads opened. -

Detroit to resume his duties in the
Fisher Body shops,
