James Martin, in his 77th year, having suffered two strokes within a week, although he had been of a robust constitution all his life, Mrs. Martin died.five months ago. He is survived by one grand- daughter, Mss Mary Ellen Dempsey; three brothers, Barney, of Ellice Township; John and Patrick, and one sister, Jane, all of Stratford. A very pidas'ant social gathering of the congregation of the United Church Brucetfield, was held -oh Wednesday evening last. The ladies of the congregation_ ser- ved a sumptuous supper to almost 300 .members and adherents of the church, after which a good programme was given, consisting of read-utgs, music and speeches.
