is confined to his bed at present.
Several weeks ago he had a toe am-
putated that been frozen some. years
ago but it is now feared the amputa-
tion did not entirely remove the
trouble.

Mrs. 'James Hill, of Hibbert, under-
went an Operation for appendicitis in
Seaforth' hospital, Tuesday morning,

A BAD FALL.
-Mrs, Sam. Hanna met with a pain-
ful accident on Sunday evening at her
home when she steppedeinto an open
cellar way. In falling, Airs. Hanna
Wink the cement wall with her
shoulder, which fortunately prevented
her from -gping head foremost to the
bottom of the steps. Her shoulder
was dislocated and she was severely
bruised and shaken up.
Alr. I-Ianna was upstairs at the time
but with the assistance of a nurse
next door who teagd the cries, Mrs.
Hanna was soon given necessary .aid.
The trap door of the cellar had been
left open and unknowingly Mrs.

laneous shower on Thursday' of last
week at the home of Miss Ruth Skin-

friends met to do her honor. Miss

but made a very gracious speech, ex-
pressing her thanks.

several days last week.

PlaY.-^Despite the bad weather and
roadsthere was a good 'crowd pres-
ent on Monday evening to hear the
Young People presetu the paly, "The
Path Across the Hill." It was a eome-
dy-drama in three acts and was well
acted by all those taking part, There
was not one dull moment from Zuzu's
appearance in the first act to the final
scene in the last act. The play is a
story which shows that dove is a
stronger power than hate in the
world and proves that the good Lord
intend,e that we should work out our
own problems. Then we learn sp'nne-
thing and when a mortal interferes,
it is sure to tangle things up, In
most places the play was decidedly
humorous and the audience was kept.

Women's Missionary Society of the

with Mrs. Bremner presiding. After
