• McKILLOP.
One of Go•derich's oldest citizens
finished a long and active life on
Wednesday, May 9th, when James
McClure passed away at Alexandra
hospital in his 'ninety-fourth year.
Until a few months ago Mr. McClure
was fairly active and vigorous in spite
of his great age. About Christmas-
time he had an 'illness—almost the
first in his life—and he was just get-
ting about again, in 'February, when
he had a fall in which his hipbone
was broken. He had since been un-
der treatment at the •hospital, where
an attack of pneumonia finally prov-
ed fatal, •Mr. McClure was •born
near Merrickville, Ont., January 17th,
1835. He lived in the township of
McKillop for some years before mov-
ing to Colborne township where he
farmed for many years on the home-
stead near Benntil•ler now occupied
by his eldest son, Robert. Twenty-
three years ago he retired from the
farm and moved :into town, 'where he
had since resided. He is survived by
his wife, three sons: Robert of 'Col-
borne township; John, of Goderich,
and William of (Dungannon, and three,
daughters: Mrs. Andrew 'Shepherd of
the Base line, Goderich township;
Mrs, •Galbraith of -Goderich and Mrs,
McClure in Saskathewan. Another
daughter died in infancy. All the
members of the family, except the
daughter .in the West, were present
for the funeral, which took plate on
Friday afternoon from the family res-
idence, Anglesea street, to Colborne
cemetery. The funeral services were
conducted by Rev, M, C. Parr of Vic-
toria street United ,Church and the
pallbearers were the three sons and
three nepltewst John. McClure of
