A large crowd was in Hensall on
Tuesday to attend the Hensel] Spring
Show. It was a beautiful day but the
wind was a little cold. Every class
was. well filled and some splendid ani-
mals were shown. The judging took
place an the pavement and the trials
of speed on the station street, which
was dragged in the morning to put
in fair condition, The different auto-
mobile firms in town had splendid dis-
plays elf automobiles and the different
salesmen seemed to do quite a bit of
business.

Late Peter McKay. --,An old and
highly respected resident of Tucker -
smith passed away on Good Friday at
his home on the ,6th concession, H. R.
S., in the person of Mr. ,Peter Mc-
Kay, aged 76 years. Mr. McKay had
been in failing health for about a year,
but was not confined to his bed. Born
in the County of Oxford, he ca'nie to
Tuckersmith when eighteen 'months
old with his parents,the late Mr. and
Mrs. John McKay, the family settling
on the 10th concession, On September
251h, 1877, he was united in marriagew J. I~INIVIGAN
to Miss Annie Clark„ daughter of the
late ,Hugh Clark of Tuckersmith, and
in 1897 they' moved to the present ECSMeND.YILLE
farm on the 6th concession. Last fall
Mr, and Mrs. McKay celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary. Mr.
McKay was well known throughout
this district as a breeder of Shorthorn
cattle. He took an active part in mu-
nicipal affairs and had been a 'member
of the telephone commission since its
inception, lBesides his widow he is
survived by two sons and two daugh-
ters, John R., of Buffalo; Robert C.,
and the Misses Anna and Bessie, at
home. His eldest son, Daniel
passed away .eleven years ago, A
brother and a sister also survive, Mr.
D. M. McKay, of Toronto, and Mrs.
Bowland, of Egmondville, The fun-
eral took place }Monday afternoon,
the service ,tieing conducted by Rev,
Dr. Larkin, assisted by Rev. W. D,
McDonald, Interment was made in
the !RRoss cemetery at Brucefield,..

Murray -Howe -On Saturday, Apeil
7th, 1928, a pretty wedding took place
at Egmondville United Church, when
Ethel, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Howe, Cromarty, was united in
marriage to Mr. Cecil :E, Murray, son
of Mr, and Mrs. Angus Murray, Tuck-
ersmith, The ceremony was perform-
ed by Rev. W. D. McDonald, The,
bride, who was given away by her
brother, Mr. Edward !Howe, of De-
troit, was charming in a white silk
crepe de chine dress with silk net veil
and carried Ophelia roses. The
bridesmaid, Miss Edith Burrows, of
Strafford, cousin of the bride,. was
dressed in blue silk flat crepe with hat
to thatch and carried a bouquet of
pink carnations. Mr. James Howe Jr.,
bride, was

wedding party proceeded to the
bride's home, where a dainty wedding
dinner was' served. On their return
from a honeymoon trip to points east,
Mr. and Mrs. Murray will make their
home on the groom's fine farm in
Tuckersmith.

Miss Eileen Flannery, school teach-
er in St. Josephs Convent, Toronto, is
spending the 'Easter holidays at the
home of her .parents; Mr. and Mrs.

Reeve R Kennedy and Mrs. Ken-
nedy, of 'Tuckersenith, were guests on
Wednesday last at the, home of their
daughter, Mr. and Mks, August Du-
charme, Hibbert.
Mrs, Robert Hoggarth, a former
resident of .this township, •passed
away suddenly at her home in Strat-
ford on 'Sunday evening, April 8.
She was }formerly Miss Ellen Sillery,
wife of Robert Hoggarth, Treasurer
of Perth County. She died after
a very short illness of pneumonia.
Mrs. Hoggarfh was born in Hibbert
near 'Cromarty, the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William Sillery,
who were among the early settlers in
that part o'f the country. She was in
her 67th year and had resided in
Stratford about a year and a half,
having left Hibbert when 'Mr. Hog-
garth was appointed Perth County
Treasurer. Prior to that, she had
resided in Hibbert her entire life.
Mrs. Hoggarth was a 'member of St.
John's United Church 'and a member
of the Ladies' Aid and at all times
took an interest in the work of the
church. Besides her husband she is
survived by two sons, Robert S. Hog-
garth, of Cromarty, and George A,
Hoggarth, of Toronto; two daughters
Mrs. A McLaren of Cromarty, and
Mrs, ('Dr,) E. McGavin of 'Windsor;
two brothers, 'Richard Sillery, Hib-
bert, and 'Robert Sillery! of Exeter,
and 5 sisters, Mrs. D. Hill, Mrs. Wil-
liam Sadler, Mrs. Robert Sadler, Mrs.
John Livingstone, all o'f Staffa, and
Mrs. David Bruce. of Cromarty.
The funeral was held Tuesday after-
noon from her late residence, 1e42
Avon Street, Stratford, to Avondale
cemetery, where interment was made.
The service was conducted by Rev.
W. S. Owen, of St. John's United
Church. Many friends of Mr, Hog-
garth and members of the County
Council attended the service at the
hone. 'Numerous floral tributes sig-
nified the high esteem in which Mrs.
Hoggarth was held by her large
circle of friends 'and relatives in
Stratford, Hibbert and many other
centres. The pall -bearers were
Messrs, John Livingstone, David
Bruce, William Sadler, 'Robert Sadler,
Robert Sillery and Richard Sillcey.
The Council met on April 9th. Alt
members present except Mr. Feeney,
who, owing to sickness; in the 'family,
was unable to attend. The minutes of
last meeting were read' and adopted.

Treasurer' Robert Hoggarth, had
died, the following motion was Pass-
