This would be very easy to do if
all the people "stood unitedly 'behind
the Union Government. But as a
matter of foot, while the Government
has ' behind it the • great pre-
pottderencc < of intelligent labile
opinion in all parts of Can
ado excepting Quebec and also .the
support of the leading newspapers in
every, province except Quebec, yet
there is an organized effort , to de-
feat not only the Union Government
but what it stands for. The friends
of the Union Government ,and the
Military Service Act cannot afford to
ignore Sir Wilfrid Laurier much less
waste time in lauding or praising

of a Toronto daily. writes to suggest
that the supporters of Union •Govern-

Methodists Endorse
Union Government
At the November meeting of the
Godcrich district, held at Landes -
bore on Thursday last in connection
with- the Methodist church, a resolu-
tion was passed pledging hearty 'sup-
port to tate Union Government under
the leadership of Sir Robert Borden.
The resolution was introducer. by
Rev. R. J. McCormick of Blyth, sec-
onded by, C, .1. Rallis of Clinton, and
carried unanimously was as follows;
"That we, laymen and ministers of
the Goderioh Methodist' District here
assembled at Londesboro, do heartily
comm std the COuservatives -and Lib-

made to the Prisoners of War De
partment, Canadian Red -Cross So-
ciety, London, England, for the nec-
essary coupons for parcels packed
personally at the earliest ,possible
moment, These coupons are to be
used• on food parcels only and no
coupons can . be issued for amounts
under ten pounds. If, therefore, it
1s +desired to despatch a parcel weigh-
ing less than ten pounds an ordinary
coupon must he used and the parcel
counts_ as one of the four permissible
in four weeks. Articles may not bo
sent to any Society for ,enclosure in
any parcel despatched under the Red
Cross label. The importance of
guarding against any misuse of the
label cannot be too strongly emjlhas-
ized. Sob action would not onlp
harm the Prisoner to whomthepar-
cel was adriressed but would react on
other prisoners. and might endanger
the whole system of despatching the
food supplies to officers and men who
have fallen into the hands of the
enemy. Parcels for officers interned
in Bulgaria and Turkey come under
the new scheme. Owing, however,
to the diffeultics of postal cmnmun-
ication,, it is notadvisable to send
many; parcels to officers in Turkish
damps. Supplies can lie purchased
Asia Minor and it is better to re-
mit money to the prisoners rather
