'Very' interesting and impressive
services were held in Onion church,
Sunday, the occasion being the fare-
well of the pastor, .Rev. 'Hall Woods.
Mr. Woods preached his farewell ser-
mons to two large, appreciative,cou-
gregations. A very impressive com-
munion service was held in the murn-
ing, when. thirty new members were
received Into the cinurch, Ever since
coming to Brucefleld ibrr. Woods has
preached the Gospel of love, always
striving to impress upon his bearers
the necessity of love to God and love
to man. The text for the evening
was Hebrew 12:1 ; "Wherefore, seeing
ye are compassed about with sn
great a cloud of witnesses." Ile
spoke about the .good and noble
people of the past and our own dear
ones who have gone before us, look-
ing over the battlements of heaven
to sec if we are living pure, clean
and holy lives. itis parting message
was to live close to Christ day by
day, He was always willing to go,
night and day to visit and pray over
the sick and dying, speaking words of
comfort and consolation to those who
Were going down through the shadow
and also to those who were passing
through deep sorrow and . bereave-
ment.
Mr. Woods tendered his resignation
when he realized that lie could not
do justice to his congregation on aF
count of his defective bearing. The
congregation presented Mr, and Mrs.
Woods with a purse of $100.

Farmers Like

They like it, because it is a real up-
to-the-minute newspaper.
And they like it even more, because it helps
them to make money, by giving them the
market quotations while prices are still "hot.”
You get the live stock, grain, and produce market reports
from Toronto, Montreal, Buffalo, Chicago, and Winni-
peg from twelve hours to one full day ahead of your re-
ceiving the same quotations in the next morning's papers.
And you know how often you have said to yourself, "If
1 had known earlier just how the market was going, I
could have made rnortey."
In addition to its splendid market service, the Toronto
"Daily Star– gives you the most comprehensive war and
general news service obtainable through any daily paper
in Canada.
Then, too, there are pages to interest the women and the
children, and a good comic cartoon series.
In fact the Toronto "Daily Star" is just such a newspaper
as a farmer who is interested iii the world news likes to
read, and he eventually comes t2 regard it as the insep-
arable companion of his leisure: hunt.%
