Broadfoot Mrs. Whitmore and daughter, Elsie,;" of near Brumfield, had a miraculous escape from death at the G.T.R. lev- -qI crossing here on Friday afternoon while driving into town with a cov- •ered buggy'. The horse became un- manageable and, despite the efforts oaf the ladies to control it, it dashed, across the rails just as 0 through -freight was passing at about thirty miles an hour. Fortunately the horse swerved as the train approach- ed. Otherwise the buggy would have been struck amidships. As it was, the engine struck the buggy, tearing off the rear wheels and throwing the occupants out on the pavement. Mrs, Whitmore suffered a fractured collar bone and the daughter was coetsider- ably bruised. The horse escaped with a few cuts. Hull.ett Township Mr, 'Phos.
