old Holmes and Miss Lois return-
ed last week from a visit in Port
Huron,

end with her sisters-in-law, Mrs.
Draper and Mrs. Gibson of De-
troit.
Rev. A. E. aced Mrs. Jones and Miss
Madeline• _returned on Fridap after
spending a month at their cottage
at Grand Bend.

Mary of Burlington have been
guests at the home of Mr. and

Mr. and Mrs. Cranston have return-
ed to their home in Port Arthur
after a visit with the lady's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Torrance.
Mrs. J. B. Levis and. Mrs. (Dr.): At-
kinson of Vancouver, 13 0., who
has been visiting friends in Clinton
and Hoinesviile for several weeks
past, spent the weak, -cud as guests
at the home of the former's father,
Mr, John McKinley of Stanley.
Mrs. George Levis returned last
week from a trip to the west. She
first visited friends in Winnipeg,
going on to Oxbow, where she vis-
ited her own sister, Mrs. Frank
Gorreil and Mrs. J, W. .1.• -Lill, Mr.
Levis' sister. Later she spent

kota, and. Mr. 'Thos, Jenkins' of

weeks visiting Mrs. Young's par-

Mrs. A. 15. Tulloch and daughters,
Erma and Vera, of Sault Ste. Marie,
Ont., have returned to Goderich af-
ter spending id couple of weeks with
the lady's sister, Mrs. E. R. Weston.
Miss Florence Johnston, after
spending the past three months with
her sister, Mrs. E. R. Weston, has
returned home to Goderich.
Mrs. (Capt.) Alex. Brown of Owen
Sound has been visiting her daugh-
ter, Mrs, John Parker, the past two
weeks.
Mr, 1l. W. Erwin spent Tuesday at
London.
Mrs. Clarke, whose husband was
killed ins France in May last, left on
Tuesday with her fancily for London,
where she will undergo an operation
in the hospital. The family will be
put in the Children's Home until her
recovery.
Miss .Evelyn Pollock, who has been
spending her vacation under the par-
ental roof, left on .Friday last for
Bancroft to take. charge of her
school. Her sister, Mrs. Brownlee,
accompanied her and will spend a
few weeks with her.
Mrs. H. W. Erwin is visiting her
daughter, Mrs. E. A. Seeder of Kit-
chener.
Miss Lula King has beea engaged
as teacher of a school near Stratford
and left on Monday, to take charge.
Mr. J. Made/wan, wife and two
children and Mr, J. Barton and wife
of Goderich were the guests of Mrs.
Barton's parents, Mr. and. Mrs. John
Falconer, over the holiday.
Mr, John Mitobbli of London was
the guest of his cousin, Mr. F. A.
Edwards, over the week -end,
Messrs. R. Wilson end Keith Mc-
Lean of Seaforth were guests at the
Albion over the. week -end.
Messes, Herbert Johnston and Wil-
liani Williamson left on Thursday
last for the west.
Dr, Woods spent the past week at
Toronto.

adian Army Dental Corps; son of Dr,
Atkinson, who left for overseas in

Mr. A. Hughes, who has been re-
lieving Mr. Faskon at the station,
left on Tuesday for his home at
Princeton, Oxford county. While here
he received the sad news that his
brother had fallen in battle, bit.
Hughes has still another 'brother at

The farmers are putting berth great
efforts to get their big crop housed
during the good weather. Some of
the barns will not bold it all. Al-
though we have had some heavy
rains nothing has suffered /very much.
There was a great exodus on Tues-
day of children for the diffetent
schools ; Alis Helen McGregor to
take charge of her school in Welles-
ley, where she is principal pf a four
room school. Miss Margaret Mullis
also left to take charge of her school
