WASHABLE PAPER CLOTHES.
Now on Sale in Germany—Use Will
Be General by Spring.
Germany is fast becoming hard up
for wearing apparel, and inventors
have succeeded in finding an effec-
tive substitute for woollen and cotton
fabrics. The new material has been
tested and proves to be both wear-
able and washable. The drawback
at•present is that this "paper cloth"
is rather stiff, but by special treat-
ment experts hope to produce 8 stuff
sufficiently fine and soft to be used
even for • underwear, The Berlin
Daily Paper (Tageblatt) devotes' the
best part of a column to this import-
ant revolution in clothes. Work-
men's clothing of strong texture can
now be bought in the Berlin shops,
and men's trousers, specially impreg-
nated to withstand rain,'are also on
sale.
The Daily Paper says that by next
spring men, women and' children of
all classes will probably be wearing
complete outfits made of the new ma-
terial. Itis worth noting that these
goods, like the materials they re-
place, are only purchasable on cloth-
ing, permits.
"Music," writes the' editor of the
Etude, "is now being looked upon by

the burden of the greatest grief which

EVERY WOMAN'S RiGHT
To every woman belongs the right
to enjoy a healthy, active, happy life,

of headaches, weak backs, aching
limbs and uncertain health. All weak,

to be well, by refreshing their weary
bodies with the new, rich, red blood
that' promptly transforms then' into
healthy attractive women. This new,
rich, red blood is supplied in abltnd-
ancd by Dr, Williams' Pink Pills which
reaches every organ and every nerve
in the body.
Through the use of these pills thou-
sands of women have found a prompt
cure when suffering from anaemia, in-
digestion, heart palpitation, rheuma-
tism, general weakness, and those ail-
ments from which women alone suffer.
There is no part of this broad Domin-
ion in which' you will not find some
former sufferer who has regained
health and strength -through the use of
Dr, Williams' Pink Pills, and this is
the reason why. these pills have been
a favorite household remedy for more
than a generation. 1f you are ailing

"It was in the house of Simon that

in the Nation.
"It was not its beauty that eh'ained
my eyes, though it was a face beauti-
ful to look upon. Nor was it the light
in the eyes, though that rejoiced the
heart, It was the tranquility of the
face that held me; a tranquility, not of
sloth or emptiness, but of surety; the
tranquility of one who rested - in a
certainty greater than other men
knew,
"'That man has the secret of life,'
I thought, and as if I hacl spoken the
Words aloud the man's eyes turned,
and his gaze met mine,
"There was something in the look
that stirred my soul. The tranquility
did not leave his face, but there came
a. questionivng into his eyes, and then a
wistfulness that melted me to pity.
"'He is lonely,' I thought. 'He
seeks friends.' He asks somewhat of
me.' And my heart leapt within me.
The eyes held mine for a moment, and
then some man spoke and he turned to
answer.
"I do not remember the next thing.

a crowd and straightway forgets ..all
but iris vision."

DROPPING A LIGHTED MATCH,
Terrible Forcat Fires in Canada Are
Result of Trifling Causes.
A man 'dropped a lighted match on
the .shore of Kalamalka Lake, British
Columbia, on July 8th last. Within
an hour a hot fire was racing through
the underbrush. For three weeks after
that there raged a series a forest
fires, defying the organized efforts of
hundreds of men.
At one time, 26 fire fighters were.
ringed about with flames while their
relatives, shut off from them and help-
less to .aid, awaited news in terrorized
suspense. Only after severe suffering
from exhaustion, thirst and 'hunger
did the hand of workers force their
way through to safety.
That experience is a big price to
pay for one person's foolish act in.
handling matches in a forest. The
court fined the careless man $50 but
that does not help the province to
bear the enormous loss,
One lighted match dropped on one
inch of inflammable ground expanded
into fifteen miles of ruin.
In the Spruce Valley fire of. British
Columbia of the same month, eleven
men lost their lives, most of them
tortured to death as' they struggled
over the mountain tops. The fuse to
that disaster was supplied by a
small piece of lighted tobacco care-
lessly thrown on the grassy floor of a
tent.
Ninety out of a hundred tragic holo-
causts could be avoided if every Can-
adian camper and fisherman kept vigi-
lant watch on his own pair- of hands,
and every settler kept a tight rein on
his clearing fires. It does not cost
five cents or five minutes to put out a
camp •fire or a cigarette or a match,
but it costs the people of Canada four
or five million dollars a year to par-
tially overtake the timber damage
caused by runaway flames.

NEW YORK, N. Y.—Most people fool-

both In this Country and In great Euro-

can only come from the food you eat.
But people often fall to get strength out
of their food because they haven't

their weakened, nervous condition they
know something is wrong but they can't

rid of all symptoms of dyspepsia, liver
