miss his good counsel, we shall be -

groom which we can never fill. We
looked forward to him as a coming
light in our Order, he is dead—but
not to us. We shall inscribe his name
in our memories, his kind words and
good deeds will live on in our lodge
and his name will have its place in
the honor roll .of this great Canada
of ours. He has fulfilled bis obliga-
tion as an Orangeman in giving his
life for right and libexty and bled
and died for the great British Em-
pire which he loved so dear. I as-

lodge, of which you form a part, will

vices will be conducted .by the Rev.
Geo. Telford, M.A., B.D., of Blyth.

The annual anniversary of Bayfield
Methodist church was held on Sun-
day last. The day being fine a large
crowd attended the services morning
and evening. Rev. J. W. Medley, M.
A., B. D., of Nile °occupied trio pulpit
at both services and gave two very
eloquent addresses, 7'he choir was
ably assisted by Mr. Blackie of Lon-
don, who sang a solo in the morn-
ing, and the Misses Reynolds of
Stratford, rendered a solo and a
duet, in the evening. Alt the servic-
es
ervicees were well appreciated.
The dance given by Mrs. Jamison
of Brooklyn, N.Y., in Jowitt's pav-
ilion on Friday evening last in aid
of the Patriotic Society was a suc-
cess and all report an enjoyable ev-
ening. Also the dance given
in the
town hall on Saturday evening by a
number of Miss Ferguson's guests
and others in aid of the local Red
Cross Society: proved a decided suc-
cess the hall heing filled. The tot
al
receipts of both amounted to $69.00.
The officers and members. of the so-
ciety wish to extend 'their thanks to
the ladies and gentlemen who took
such' active interest in helping on
the work and aiding the local society.
We are called upon this week to
record tine death of one of our most
highly esteemedcitizens, in the per-
son of Miss Margaret Harriet Caftd-
tier, who departed ibis life 00 Wed-
nesday morning of last week, The
deceased, who was postmistress at
Bayfield for a nautber-.of years, will
be greatly missed, as she endeared,
herself to all by her sterling Chris-
tian character and her kind aattl ob-
liging maneer..in her public capacity.
