There passed away on Sunday last an aged native of Goderich township in the person of Mr. John Alexan- der, who had reached the age of seventy-six years and seven months. Tie deceased was born on the farm just across the road from the one on which he died, the farm now oc- cupied by his Mother, Mr. James Alexander, and be had spent his en- tire life, in Goderich township. Mr. Alexander had enjoyed very good health until within a couple of months or "o before his death but the end was not entirely unexpect- ed, The deceased is survived by a son and daughter : Mrs, Harvey . Hudie of McKillop,. and Harvel, .Alexander at home. Mrs. Alexander, who was formerly Miss Nesta Phipps, died some ;Ove years ago. He is also sur- vived by two brothers and three sisters : James of this township and Williams and Mrs. Peter Cantelon, Mrs. T. McKenzie, Sr., and Miss Martha Alexander of Clinton. The late Mr. Alexander was an Anglican in religion, being a member of St. James'; church. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the family ,residence on the 8th concession, The services were conducted by Rev]. W, B. Moul- ton,• incumbent of the Middleton- Iiolmesville .parish, the interment be- ing o-ing made in Clinton cemetery. -The pallbearers were : John and Geo, ]ludic, Mason Sterling, Geo, Can- telon, Wm. Currie and Thos. McDon- ald, Varna Mr. and Mrs. J, E. Hammen canto down from the west last week,. ar- riving in Croderich Saturday evening. Thep have been visiting relatives in. the old township this week. Misses Myrtle Wheeler and Rata Higgins of Belgrave are vibiting the latter's brother, Mr, Nelson Higgins, in the village. Erwin, Reeve, attended a special meeting of the county council at Goderich on Tuesday with re- gards to the Good Roads movement, Dr, Woods left on Tuesday for London, where he will spend a few days of this week at the meeting of the Synod, after which he leaves for Battle Creek, Michigan, where he will spend a month in the sanitar- itun for treatment of rheumatism.
