TERESA ECKERT The death occurred in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, on Saturday, Sept. 1, of Teresa Lor- etta O'Connor, widow of the late Peter Eckert. She was the last member of a family of ten child- ren of the late Patrick O'Connor and Mary Ann Matthews, pion- eers of Hibbert Township. Mrs. Eckert was in her 87th year and had been in ill health for the past seven months. She was a highly esteemed member of the farm community of Mc- Killop Township to which she moved following her marriage to Mr, Eckert in 1901, and in the village of Dublin to which she retired following his death in March, 1943. Surviving Mrs, Eckert is a fam- Ily of five sous and three daugh- ters: Joseph on the homestead in McKillop; Stephen and Peter of Timmins; Rev. Vincent Eckert of Gary, Indiana; James of Rochest- er, New York; (Clotilda) Mrs. Peter Maloney of McKillop; (Ter- esa) Mrs, George Coville of Dub- lit and (Lucy) Mrs, Albert Siem - on of McKillop. There are also twenty-five grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. The funeral took place from her late residence, the home of oar (laughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Coville, Dublin, to St. Patrick's Church where Solemn IIigh Mass was chanted by her son, Fr. Vincent Eckert, C.S.B. of Gary, Indiana, assisted by Rev. James Cross, 0,$.13., deacon and Rev. Edmund Brennan, C.S.B., sub -deacon. Present in the sanc- tuary angtuary were: Rev, Cyril Carter, 0.5.13., Rev, Francis Sheehan, C.S.B., Rev. Norbert Reuss, C.S.B., Rev. Adrian Record, C.S.B., Rev. Grace Agius, C.S.B., Rev. Joseph Abend, C.S.B., Rev. William Mc- Gee, C.S.B., Mr. Edmund Muller, C,S.B„ Rev. Remi Durand, Rev. Fr. Coughlin and Rev. Dr. Ffoulkes. An inspiring eulogy was delivered by Rev. William McGee, C.S.B. Interment was in St. Columban Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Tom Eckert, Frank Maloney, Keith Siemon, Frank Cronin, Raymond Murray and Tom Purcell. MRS. WILLIAM A. PALIN The death of Mr's. William A. Palin, Seaforth r.r. 5 occurred in Scott Memorial Hospital about 11 a.ni. on Wednesday, Sept. 6th after an illness of six mouths, She was in her 95th year and was formerly Florence B. Cooper, born in England, Preston Hall, Malipar, Chertine. She was educated and married there; coining to this country in 1937. Her husband predeceased her in December, 1952. One son, harry. Palin of McKillop, survives. She was a member of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, Seaforth. The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 7th, at 2 p.m. from the 0. A. Whitney Funeral Home, Goderich St., Sea - forth, Rev. H. Donaldson offlciat• Ing. Interment will be in Mait- land Bank cemetery. MRS. WILLIAM J. ELDER Mrs. Ellen Elder, Seaforth, died in Scott Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Sept. and, in her Seth year. Formerly Ellen Stewart she was born at Hensall, daughter of the late Robert Stewart and Jane Pass. She was married at Hen- sall in 1894 to William Elder who predeceased her in 1957. Sur'viv ing aro a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Jessie) Elder, Seaforth, and a brother, Duncan Stewart, I -fen - sail, She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, The funeral was held on Tuesday, Sept, 4tb, from the Box Funeral Home, Seaforth, Rev, Douglas O. Fry, officiating. Interment was in Maitland Bank Cemetery. VARNA Anniversary Services will be held in Goshen United Church on Sunday, Sept. 9th at 11 a,m, and 7.30 p.m, The pastor, Rev. Mrs, Minnie Sang- ster who bas retired fro the choir and Mrs, Wm. Brown and Miss Carol Brown who have accepted choir leader and organist of First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, were presented with gifts by Miss Hannah Murray, Miss Patsy Moir and Mrs, Bev, Beaton, Mrs. Pearl Love read the accompanying ad- dress, Gifts will be forwarded to Mrs. Baynham and Colleen who were unable to attend. Coughlin officiat- ed at the ceremony in St. Colum - ban Catholic Church on Aug. 18th when Cleo Dorothy Bowman and George Smith exchanged wedding vows. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowman, r.r. 5 Seaforth, and the groom is the son of. Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Smith, Zurich. The bride wore a floor -length gown of white Swiss brocade, The bodice featured a shallow scoop neckline and lily - point sleeves. The bouffant skirt,. which was fashioned with triple front pleats, cascaded into a chapel train. A queen's crown of pearlized apple Is held her fingertip veil and she carried a cascade of white 'mums and sweetheart roses. Bridal attend- ants, Mrs. Ray Maloney and Mrs. James Whaling, both of Stratford, wore identical dresses of ice blue silk organza. Groomsmen were Raymond Smith of Kitchener and Jr. Fanners Win.
