Their costumes were identical to
that of the maid of honor. Each
attendant carried a cascade of
blue and white baby chrysanthe-
mums. The Rower girl was Miss
Diane Smith, niece of the groom,
dressed in white silk organza,
with snatching accessories. Ben -
sty Benninger, cousin of the bride,
was ringbearer, dressed itt dark
pants and white shirt, Mr. Lloyd
Smith, Zurich, was best man for
his brother, and the ushers were

groom, The acolytes for the mass

At a reception and dinner at
Brodhagen community hall, the
bride's mother received the
guests, wearing a figured blue
silk dress with white accessories.
She was assisted by tate groom's
mother who wore a mauve dress
with black and white accessories.
For travelling the bride donned
a three piece sea green cotton
knit suit with white accessories.
On their return front a honey-
moon spent in the Central ,States,
the young couple will live in
Guelph. Guests at the wedding
were front Kitchener, London,
Cornwall, Barrie,, Zurich,. Detroit„
Hamilton, Stratford and Windsor.

Word has been received of the
death of Mrs. Thomas Feeney in
St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on
Sunday morning, She was born
in Hibbert township 85 years ago,
the daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Cronin. Following her
marriage she and her husband
farmed near Staffa, -later moving
to Con, 2, McKillop Township.
Her husband predeceased her in
1935. For the last 15 years she
had resided with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jos-
eph Leiss, Kitchener. She -was a
member of St, Anne's Church in
Kitchener, the Catholic Women'
League and the Altar Society.
Surviving are two sons, Pat, o
Niagara Falls; Dennis, St. Agatha
and three daughters, Mother M.
Viola, Stratford; Mrs , Joseph
(Mary) Eckert, McKillop Tp.;
Mrs. Joseph (Anne) Leiss, Kitch-
ener, and eight grandchildren,
The body was at the home of
Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Eckert on
Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The funeral was on Wednesday
morning at 10 o'clock when
requiem high mass was sung in
St, Oolumban's Church, Burial
was in St. Columba,n Cemetery.

Misses Betty and Faye Blue,
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John-
nie Blue, graduated in certified
nursing at Wingham hospital last
week after completing the 10 -
months course. Betty won the
hospital award for top honors
and Faye came second. The girls
will continue to work at Wing -
ham hospital for the present.

MRS. JOHN W. LITTLE
Mrs. John W. Little, 77, died on
Sunday, July 15, at her home in
McKillop. • The former Ellen D,
Conway, she was born in. England
and came to Canada 75 years ago
and to the Seaforth district in
1927. She was educated in Toron-
to as a nurse. .She was a member
of First Presbyterian Church,
Seaforth, Surviving are her hus-
band, two brothers, George and
William Conway of Toronto. The
funeral service was held at the
G. A, Whitney funeral home on
Tuesday afternoon. Rev. J. 0.
Britton officiated. Interment was
in Maitland Bank Cemetery.

Dodds reviewed the chapter of
the study book. Mrs. Grace Scott
read the Glad Tidings prayer:

Around 80 members of the desc-
endants of the late James Scott
and Penelope Hamilton gathered
at -the home of Mt', and Mrs. Gor-
don Scott, which is the old fam-
ily homestead, for their annual
reunion, The afternoon was spent
in happy reminiscence and social
chat, Supper was served cafeteriaeteria
style with Mr. and Mee. T. L.
Scott and Mr. and Mrs, J. MI,
Scott lunch conveners. Mr. T. L.
Scott gave a review of the family
history since the first of the mem-
bers arrived in Canada from Scot-
land in 1820. •The president, Gor.
don Scott, presided -over the bus-
iness period and selection of of-
ficers and the secretary, Mrs, La-
verne Scott, gave a report of the
last gathering. Mr. J. M. Scott
was appointed president and Miss
Margaret Jean Russell secretary
for 1963, and Mr. and Mrs, W. J.
Routley and Mr. and Mrs. E, Al-
len are the lunch committee. Mr,
and Mlrs. Alex. Crago offered
their home for the next reunion
which will be held on the second
Sunday in July, 1953. Those at-
tending were from London, Wood-
stock, Mitchell, Seaforth, Exeter,
Aylmer, St, Marys, Kirkton, Staffa
and Cromarty.

Mr. and Mrs. Vern Alderdice
and Mr. and Mrs, Bryant Tye of
Thorndale spent the week end at
Key River, McLeod camp, fishing.
Gary and Lynn Alderdice visited
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Alderdice,
Misses Karyn and Lynda Alder -
dice returned home and are visit-
ing with Mr, and Mrs. Vern Alder -
dice.
Trousseau Tea
Mrs. Nelson Riley, rr 2, Kippen,
entertained Sat. evening at a
trousseau tea honoring her daugh-
ter, Marlene, bride -elect of July
14th. The table was attractively
covered with a white linen cloth,
centred with a bouquet of sweet
peas and a silver tea service at
both ends. The bride's 3 -tier. wed-
ding cake was placed on a side
table, Mrs.' Nancy Riley and Mrs.
Mary Gerber, grandmothers of
Marlene, poured tea,, The guests
were received by the bride and
her mother. Miss Doris Riley, a
sister, was in charge of the reg-
ister and trousseau gifts; her sis-
ter Grace, displayed linens and
other articles. A cousin, Miss
Ruth Clausius, displayed bell-
ings, mats, cushions. The shower
gifts and her dishes were'taken
charge of by a cousin, Miss Shir-
ley Heywood; wedding gifts and
trousseau by a sister Eleanor.
Servers were Miss Ferre Steckle,
Miss Irla Martin and Miss Helen
Steckle. Assistants were bride -
elect's aunts, Mrs. Albert Claus-
ius, Mrs, Orland Gerber and Mrs,
Harvey Clausius and a cousin,
Miss Dorothy Erb. .65 guests at-
tended the tea, who came from
Kippen district, Bayfield, Zurich,
Hensall, Exeter, Walton, Baden.
About 50 neighbors and friends
met in SS No. 10 school to honor
Miss Marlene Riley, prior to her
wedding, Sat., July 14th, Mrs, Ar-
chie Hoggarth presided for the
programwhich consisted of a
singsong accompanied by Mrs.
Robert -Kinsman at the piano.
Mrs. James Drummond gave a
humorous, reading, "How to Cook
a Husband." Mrs, Winston Work-
man conducted two contests. An
amusing mock wedding was pre-
sented with Mrs, Janmes Drum-
mond as preacher; Miss Donna
Whitehouse, the bride; Mrs, Ken
McKay, the groom; Miss Kath-
erine McGregor, best man; Miss
•Helma VanLoon, the bridesmaid;
Mrs. Alex. McGregor, the bride's
mother, and Mrs. Vern Alderdice
as the bride's father. Mrs. Robert
Kinsman provided suitable wed-
ding music. Marlene was then in-
vited to a decorated chair and
Mrs, Ken McKay read the ad-
dress. She was presented with
many useful gifts and made a fit-
ting reply. A dainty lunch was
then served. Hostesses were Mrs.
,lames Drummond, Mrs. Robert
Kinsman and Mrs. Ken McKay.
Wm. J. Caldwell Passes
Mr. Wm. J Caldwell passed
away suddenly at his residence,
2nd con., Tuckersntith, in his 59th
year, on Sat„ July 7tlt. He was a
Member of Hensall 1OOF Lodge
and a resident of Kippen area
since birth. He was, the . son of
the late Guy Caldwell and his
mother was the late Jennie ,Jarvis
McDougall of Kippen, He leaves
to mourn his passing his wife,
the former Edna Sararas, three
sons, Ron, of 16seter; Bob and
Harold, of Hensall; two daugh-
ters, Jean, Mrs, Harry Tozer, of
Thorndale; Shirley, Mrs, James
Daman, Hamilton; one sister.

Mrs. Wm. L. Boyd, became the
bride of Donald Keith Pethick of
Hickson, son of Mr. and Mrs,
Harold Pethick, Seaforth-

the double ring ceremony before

delabra.

mony and "The Wedding Prayer"
during the signing of the register,

the bride wore a floor length
gown of pure silk organza over
net and taffeta. The fitted bodice
had . a scalloped neckline of
alencon lace trimmed with se-
quins and pearls, long lily point
lace sleeves, The bouffant skirt
was accented with lace florets
and sequins. A chapel tiara of
seed pearls and crystal drops
held her elbow length lour tier
silk illusion veil:- --She carried a
cascade of deep pink roses,
Stephanotis and trailing ivy set
in blue tulle and satin ribbon.
The maid of honor Mrs. Don
Carter of Innerkip, sister of the
groom, and her bridesmaids, Mis-
ses Elaine Beattie, Marlene
Pepper and Jean Patrick, all of
Walton, wore identical gowns of
hot pink organza. The bouffant
skirts were topped with a fitted
bodice scooped neckline and cap
sleeves. A tiny bolero jacket of
the same material covered with'
white chantilly lace and fastened
in the back with three bows. A
petal crown of. organza and se-
quins with nose length veil, white
shoes and gloves completed their
ensemble. They carried cascades
of white baby mums and trailing
ivy set in white tulle and satin
streamers.
The flower girl Miss Brenda
Cooper of Kippen wore a white
silk organza frock with bouffant
skirt, short puff sleeves, The
dress featured a self sash, lace
trim and back bow. She wore a
headdress of white flowers, car-
ried basket of tinted pink button
mums and ivy. The ring -bearer
was Master Keith Murray of r,r. 2
'Walton, wearing a black coat and
white trousers, carrying the rings
on a white lace cushion,
.The groomsmen were Lloyd
Pethick of Seaforth, brother of
the groom, and Jim Hostetler of
Hickson.
The ushers were Bert Dennis
and Kenneth Ashton, both of
London.
At the reception which followed
in the church parlour, the bride's
mother received wearing a
hyacinth blue lace sheath over
taffeta, with front bow and se-
quin trim, a three quarter length
jacket, blue hat and white acces-
sories. A. corsage of deep pink
roses completed her costume.
The groom's mother assisted,
choosing an aqua organza sheath
over printed taffeta, matching
jacket with three quarter length
sleeves, white accessories and a
corsage of deep pink roses.
For a wedding trip to the Cen-
tral United States the bride trav-
elled in a three piece canary
yellow and white suit, white ac-
cesoties and corsage of deep pink
roses. On their return they will
reside at Hickson where the
groom, a graduate of Stratford
Teacher's College, is principal of
Facey's school,

MIarys, Kirkton, Clinton, Strat-
ford, St. Catherines, Seaforth,
Walton, Brussels, Blyth, and
Winthrop.

Church on Saturday morning,
July 14t1t, for the wedding of
Miss Mary Cecilia Cronin, elder
slaughter of Mr, and Mrs. Albert
Cronin, rr 4, Seaforth, and Mr.
Leo Joseph Smith, Zurich, son of
Mir. and Mrs, Adelbort Smith, rr 3,
Zurich, Roy. L. J. Coughlin per-
formed the ceremony and sang
the nuptial mass. Mrs, V. .T. Lane
was organist and accompanied
the soloist, Mr, Lorne De Gaust,
London, who sang "Ave Maria,"
"Paris Angelicus" and "Salvo
Regina." The bride, given in mar'
riage by her father, wore a. floor
length gown of organza, featur-
ing a full bouffant skirt with lace
appliques across the front, drap-
ed up at the side, and caught with
