The Election Act, (Section 77), a poll will
be opened on Saturday, June 23, from 9
a.m. until 6 p.m. and from 8 p.m. until 11
p.m. (Daylight Saving Time).
The polling place for the Municipality of
the Township of McKillop will be located at
my office, Lot 27, Concession 2, for the
purpose of receiving the votes of voters
wno expect to be absent from the Munici-
pality on the day fixed for polling.
The ballot box will be opened and the
votes counted at 8 p.m. of the 27th day of
June, 1962, at the said place.

The June meeting of the Cath•'
olio Women's League was held at
the home of the president, Mrs.
Albert Cronin with 22 members
present. Mrs. Cronin presided and
opened the meeting with ,prayer,
The recording secretary, Mrs.
Thomas Kale, read the minutes of
the preceding meeting, Mrs. John
Moylen, corresponding secretary,
read the report given by the leg
islation convener of the Diocesan
Council, The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Jack Lane,
Mrs. Nora Maloney reported 68
paid up members. The ladies tak-
ing care of the altars for June
are Mrs, Steve Murray and Mrs.
Joseph Eckert, Volunteers for
July were Mrs. John Murphy and
Mrs. Jack McIver. An interesting
and informative account of the
'diocesan convention was given by
Mrs. Steve Murray and Mrs. Al'
bort Cronin. Mrs, Angus Kennedy
moved a vote of thanks to the
delegates for their excellent re-
ports. The mystery .prize, donated
by Mrs. Richard Downey, was
won by Mrs. Vincent Murray.
NORTH McKILLOP
The June meeting of Bethel
U.C.W. was held at the church
on Thursday evening, June 7th.
Mrs. John Burch called the meet-
ing to order. Mrs. Lavern Godkin
was at the piano. The scripture
lesson was read responsively and
Mrs. Don Dennis gave the medita-
tion and Mrs. Murray Dennis led
in prayer. Mrs. Charles Boyd
brought thoughts on the last
chapter of the study book. One
point she brought out was that
the strength of the nation de-
pends upon its people. The min-
utes were read and roll call an-
swered by 22 members. Some
thankyou notes were read. The
sum of $44,35 was realized from
the copper contest. The alloca-
tion has been met with some mo-
ney left over for the extra Pres-
byterial projects. It was decided
to donate the Explorer money to
the Winthrop Bible Vacation
,School. it was moved and second-
ed that our bank balance after
things are straightened up go to
furnish a room at the new Sea -
forth hospital when built.
As this was our last meeting as
a group of Bethel United Church
ladies, Ethel Dennis gave some
interesting facts concerning the
history of Bethel Church, such as
previous ministers and S.S. sup-
erintendents, presidents and trea-
surers of the Ladies' Aid. Mrs.
Dave Boyd was at the first ladies
meeting, was the second presid-
ent, and attended the last meet-
ing. Mrs, Burch closed the meet-
ing with the benediction.

Mrs. Ed Boyes, president of the
Egnrondville U.C.W., presided ov-
er the June meeting. The theme
of the worship service, taken by
Mrs. Alex, Pepper, was from St.
Paul's letter about the division
among the churches. Mrs. Robert
Boyesread the scripture lesson
from Ephesians and Mrs. Keith
MacLean led in prayer, The wor-
ship service was closed with a
hymn. Several members respond-
ed to the roll call and the min-
utes were read, also a note of aP-
preciation for flowers and cards
from Mrs, ,Andrew Moore. Mrs.
Boyes announced that the bale
would be sent during the coming
week. The annual church picnic
will be held on July 4th when the
supper would be at 6.30, Every
family is invited to attend, The
executive is to arrange for the
date of holding the bazaar, Mrs.
Boyes expressed appreciation to
Mrs. Durst for the beautiful ar-
rangement of the flowers in the
church each Sunday,

ire section rally held in Landes -
bore. Mrs, Ivan Carter sang a
solo, "Just a Closer Walk with
Thee," and played the accompani-
ment on the accordion, A synop-
sis of a chapter, "The Rural
Church," from the study hook
was given by Mrs, Roy McGon-
igle. The rural churches are af-
fected by the great number of
people leaving the farms for the
city. In spits of modern machin-
ery and electric equipment, young
people aro still going to the city,
It was suggested that a consolida-
tion of smaller churches In an
area would give a larger parish
and also help to relieve the scar-
city of ordained ministers. Mrs,

rural church that showed where
ministers have a challenge to
serve in these churches. The
story told of two churches of the
same denomination close together
struggling to get along. Refugee
Year came and one of the minis-
ters challenged his congregation
to make an organized campaign.
Finally the two churches worked
together, a refugee family of 3
was brought in, a house and fur-
nishings provided 'and finally the
two churches amalgamated. The
meeting was closed by a hymn,
and prayer by Mrs. Boyes. Group,
1 with Mrs, A. Forbes as hostess
served refreshments.
