Roll call was answered by 10 girls, Minutes were read and the book covers discussed, Mrs. McGrath demonstrated reinforc- ing a curved seam and inserting a zipper. The girls worked on their garments. Seaforth led 2 to 1 at the end of the first on goals by Beuttan-• unifier and McLaughlin, 'Both teams played tight playoff hockey in the second with neither twin being able to dent the twine. Larry Dale made it 3 to 1 with a few minutes gone in the third Peeled. Then Clinton came back and scored three unanswered goals in the last 15 minutes of play to win 4.3, Bob Beuttenmdkler, Seaforth star cen'tre man, will be lost to the team for the rest of the sea- son when he received a broken arm in the first period of the game. Next game will be played this Thursday night in Seaforth at 8.30 and a good crowd it expected as these two teams are fighting it out for the Ilomebrew Chum- pionsltip, This is terrific hockey and the winner of this playoff series enters into the All Ontario Int, B. playdawus. WALTON The March meeting of the VOW was held Mar. 9 in the church basement with 32 members pres- ent. Mrs, Emerson Mitchell pre- sided and opened the meeting with prayer, Hymn 16 was .sung with Mrs, Martin Baan at the piano, The 17th and boundary unit was in charge of the meeting with Mrs. Cliff Ritchie, the leader, Mrs. H. Sarandon read the scrip sura taken from psalm 90 and Ephesians, ch. 2:5.8 Medutaition and prayer were offered by Mrs, 0, Ritchie. Minutes were read by Mrs, T. Dundee, A Variety Soeial is to be held in the ohmch on March 16 at 8.15. Lunch Is to consist of sandwiches and squares and 17th and boundary unit to serve; McKillop unit to clean up; doorkeepers, Mrs. K. McDonald and Mrs, Ron Bennett. We were reminded of the Walton unit ba- zaar to ,be held at 2 o'clock in the ,ohurch basement with Mrs. Evan McLagau of Blyth United church as guest speaker. Thank you cards were read from Mrs. H. Hackwell and Mrs. Don McDon- ald. U.C.W. of Blyth extended an invitation to their Spring Rally on Apr. 15 at 7.30 p,ni, with Mrs. John Y. McKinnon as the guest speaker. Monorief thank offering meeting will be Apr, 19, Walton ,thankoffering meeting was dis- cussed for the latter part of April. The bale is to be sent the first of May. Treasurer's report was read by Mrs, Ken McDonald. A skit "Citizenship that Counts" was taken by Mrs, C, Ritchie, Mrs. M. Bean and Mrs. G. Love; also a poem "Heads Bent Low" was read by Mrs. C. Ritchie. Hymn 390 was sung and meeting closed with the benediction. World Day of Prayer was held March 9th in Duff's United Church. The theme "God's Love for the Whole World" was taken by Mrs. Nelson Reid and Mrs. Margaret Humphries. Hymns "0 Love of God, how strong and true" "Love Divine, all Love Excelling" and "Lord speak to me. that I may speak" were sung with Mrs. M. Baan at the piano. Prayers were offered by Mrs. A. McDonald, Mrs, D. Buchanan, Mrs. D. Watson, Mrs. H. Brown, Mrs. S. Humphries. A duet When I Kneel Down to Pray was rendered by Mrs. N. Reid and Mrs, H. Traviss, accompanied by ,Mrs, H. Brown. Mrs. A. Iliggin. botham introduced the guest speaker, Rev. H. Griffiths of United Church, Brussels. He spoke on the World Day of Pray- er and told us of God's love and Trow it works in -our lives, our homes and gave us a very inter- esting experience of God's Love in his own life when he was in a Prisoner's camp for five years. Hyman The Day Thou Gayest Lord is Ended, was sung. Rev. A. Higginbotham closed the meet- ing with benediction. The Messengers of Duff's Unit- ed Church, Walton, met Sunday morning, March 11 in the school- room with 51 members present. Nellie Baan, vice president, con- ducted the meeting, opening with hymn 588 with Caroline Fraser at the piano. Call to worship taken from psalm 103:21-22, was read by Nellie Baan followed by hymn 609, Mothers of Salem The leader, Mrs. W. Bewley, talked about and discussed kinds of churches with the children. David Baan read the scripture Math. 18:20 and Bruce Clark led in prayer. Offering was presented by Sherrill Craig and Karen Coutts and dedicated with prayer by Nellie Baan. Velma Higginbotham read minutes of last meeting and Sherrill Craig gave the treasurer's report. Next month's meeting will have the fol- lowing members in charge: Helen Searle will play the piano; Linda Travis and Sandra Watson will help with the worship services, Returning from their group study classes children sang hymn 613 Jesus Bids Us Shine, Meeting closed with all repeating the Mis- pah benediction, Mrs. Samos Sanderson of Wrox- eter spent the week end with Mr, and Mrs, Earl Watson. The different units of the UCW of Duff's United Church are bus- ily engaged in practising for the annual Irish program and social evening to be held Friday even- ing, Mar. 16th at 8,15 p.m. Lunch will be served. Anglican Church Meeting The March meeting of the Guild of St, George's Church was held at the home of Mrs. S. Humphries and Mrs. Jennings gave the pray- er and Scripture reading. The sec- retary is to send for remnants and we have more quilts to quilt. Invitation to the United Church bazaar under auspices of Walton Unit on March 28 was read also one to;the Sit. John's Anglican on Mar. 27th to see slides on this year's study book. Walton Willing Workers The fourth meeting of Walton Willing Workers was held at the home of the leader, Mrs. H, Craig on Mar. 7th at 7.30. Business was conducted by Linda Bryan.s be- cause the president, Anne Blake, was unable to attend.. Janet Shsrt- re4d read the minutes. There was a discussion of the subject mat- ter led by the assistant leader, Mrs. Travis. Mrs. H. Craig dem- onstrated how to put in a zipper, stay stitch a blouse and put a band on a skirt. Mrs. Travis de- monstrated how to hem a skirt. Each member made a hem .on a small piece of material. LONDESBORO Mrs. Munising and son Donald visited on Sunday with Mr, Har- vey Flunking who is still a pat- ient in Westminster Hospital, London, Friends will be glad to hear he is making good progress. We wish to welcome to the village Mr, and Mrs. Gerald John- ston and family who have taken up residence in the Alexander Apts. Mr. Johnston attends- the RCAF Station at Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gardiner of Cromarty spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Howatt. Mrs. Walter McGill spent the week end with her sister Mrs. Gordon McPhee of the Nile. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kennedy, Mr, Dave Ewan and Mrs: Thos. Fairservice spent the week encs with Mr and Mrs. Wm, Bagaent of Ingersoll, Mrs. Thos. Adams is spending a short time with her sof Clifford and family. She spent the winter with her sister Mrs. John Vin- cent of Goderich: Miss Margaret Tamblyn of Lea- mington spent the week end with her father Mr. Frank Tamblyn and Jack. The afternoon unit and memb- ers of the evening unit of the U.C.W. met on Thursday after- noon in a joint meeting of the regular monthly and the "World Day of Prayer". A short busin- ess period prior to the prayer service was conducted by the leader Mrs. Crawford, Tile chair was then occupied by Mrs, Edwin Wood as leader. The printed pro- gramwas followed with several members leading in prayer. Rev. Clifford G. Parke of Wesley - Willis, Clinton, gave a fine ad- dress on the theme "God's love for the whole world". Mrs. Gor- don Shobbrook contributed a beautiful solo "Sweet hour of Prayer" hi keeping- with the theme. A social half hour was spent at the close.
