Rowoliffe (2), Bili McLaugh- lin, Frank Elliott, and Jack Cro- zier got the winning goal, Bill German played a standout game in the nets for Seaforth and Bill Pinder played a great game eheoking in the forward line. Reeves,, N.G., pre- sided at Monday night's meeting of Edelweiss Rebekah •Lodge at' which plans were made to hold a euchre party. following the next regular meeting, Feb. 22nd. Meeting is called for 7.30 p,m, Mrs. Geo. Campbell, V.G„ re- ported several gifts, sympathy, get -well and greeting cards had been sent to bereaved, sick and. shutins during the past month. The secretary, Miss Jean Scott read several greeting and thank - you cards received by the lodge. Tentative plans were discussed. concerning the observance of the Lodge's 60th Anniversary on May 10th, 1962. The past district deputy presidents were named a committee in charge of ar- rangements. They are: Mrs. Georgine Smith, Mrs, Alex Boyes, Mrs, Chester Henderson, Miss Jean Scott and Mrs. Joseph Grummett. The secretary was instructed to contact possible guest speakers. A lunch of Christ- mas goodies was enjoyed follow- ing the meeting. McKillop Council Appoint Officials The McKillop Township Coun- cil held their first meeting of the year on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Carnegie library hall with Reeve Dan Beuerman. The councillors were sworn in: William Dennis, Kenneth Stewart, Allan Camp- bell, Ralph McNichol. Township officials were all re appointed. David Shannon is a new fence viewer. Dan Beuerman was appointed to the Maitland River Authority which meets at Wingham Feb. 8th. Reports were provisionally ad- opted on the Love and Campbell Drains. To Discuss Tourist Business Mid -Western Regional Tourist Council meeting, Tuesday, Janu- ary 16, 8 p.m., Town Hall, Sea - forth, Purpose' of meeting is to inter- est as many "tourist minded" people and organizations as pos- sible in becoming actively associ- ated with the Regional Tourist Council. Topics to be discussed will in- clude purpose, objectives, mem- bership, projects to be undertak- en, financing and projects con- templated for 1962 season. The members of the Seaforth Chamber of Commerce are urged to attend this meeting. LEGION AUXILIARY The Jan. meeting of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 166, of Seaforth was held in the Legion Hall on the 3rd with a small num- ber in attendance due to winter. weather and sickness. Mrs. Rus- sell Miller won the 8:30 door prize which is our monthly draw. Marie Little won the lucky draw. We received a card from our Veteran thanking us for our nice parcel, and a letter was also re- ceived from the War Memorial Children's Hospital, London, thanking us for our Christmas gifts. The joint installation of the officers of the men's and wo- men's groups of Branch 156 will take place on Jan. 11. Installa- tion by Exeter Legion. Plans are underway for our birthday party to be held in April. The meeting closed and a delicious lunch was served by the January lunch com- mittee. at the 2 minute mark of the 2nd on Foster's goal. Winthrop tied the score with two fast goals nearing the end of the period. Don McClure scored with assists to Ken McClure and George Love and Bob Elliott fired a long shot from the blue line that found the mark, with the assist to Doug Riley. In the 3rd period Blyth went ahead on a goal by Allan but Don McClure tied the score with his Ind goal of the night which came on a face-off deep in Blyth territory. This ended the scoring making the final score 3.3. Winthrop will travel to Luck- now next Friday and the next home game' will be Monday, Jan. 15 when Atwood will be the op., position. They were Iris Becker, of Dashwood; Joanne Miners, Ellin-' ville; Carol Simpson and Betty Mitchell of Molesworth; and Mary Lou Coyne, Amy Stewart and Shirley Henderson . of the McKillop Club. Certificates of Achievement were also presented to those who had completed two projects, and spoons to all who had completed the current project. A Leadership Award was pre- sented to Mrs. Sid Baker of Dash- wood, who had led in five pro- jects. 1:iuring the forenoon most at- tractive displays were set up by the 137 girls representing 10 clubs; these displays featured re- cord books, recipe files and many tempting desserts and salads "featuring fruits". The day's as- signment was "Nlenu Building with Fruit", in which the girls were asked to fill in blanks in four menus, with fruit juice,, fruit or some food containing fruit, for an Ontario farm family of five for the month of August. Afternoon Session Following the repitition of the 4-H pledge, six Club -exhibits which had been set up during the noon hour were commented on. These were "Fruit Specialties" by Shirley Johns of Elimville; "A Day's Meals Featuring Fruit" by Patti McKenzie of Grand Bend; "Fruit Salads" by Elaine Murray of McKillop; "A Day's Meals fea- turing fruit" by Doris Ludding- ton of Moncrieff; "Various Ways with one fruit" by Mary Helen Buchanan of Walton, and "Uses of Dried Fruits" by Elaine Eck- ert of McKillop. Demonstrations and Skits "Breakfast for a Club Girl" by Cranbrook; ".Family meals with two fruits a day" by Dashwood and Molesworth; "Breakfast for a Ciub Girl" by Dashwood; and "Making the most of Fruit" by Seaforth District Merry Maidens, were capably carried out by the• various clubs represented, Miss Isabelle Gilchrist, Horne Economist for Huron County,. assisted with the day's program by Mrs. Ian McAllister of RR 1, Zurich, and Mrs. R. RILEY - MCDONALD Allenford United Church was decorated with baskets of white ahasta chrysanthemums and pink taffeta chrysanthemums, ferns on wrought iron standards and can- delabra with white tapers, the guest pews marked with white satin bows, on Saturday, Dec. 23, 1961, for the marriage at 1 p.m. of Norma Joan McDonald, dau- ghter of Mi. and Mrs. Malcolm McDonald, Allenford, and Doug- las Westfield Riley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley, Seaforth. Rev. George Ball of Tara con- ducted the ceremony and Mrs. Eldred Aiken played the wedding music. The soloist was Jack Mc- Gillivray of Paisley. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white French faille With V neckline, long pointed sleeves and a floor - length bouffant skirt with two back panels and train. Her el- bow length veil of French illu- sion was held in place with a crown studded with brilliants. She carried a cascade of red yule- tide roses with ivory trail. The maid of honor, Mrs. Jack Diebel, sister of the bride; Mrs. Eric McDonald, bridesmaid; and Miss Shirley McDonald, sister of the bride, junior bridesmaid, wore street length dresses of ro- yal blue velvetine with fitted bodice, boat neck and V neck in the back, three-quarter length sleeves and full skirt, They wore white fur pill box hats and car- ried white fur muffs with a clus- tet' of pink carnation with silver tie. The flower girls. Diane Diebel, niece of the bride, and Debbie Woods, niece of the groom, wore dresses and accessories similar to the bridesmaids. Ronald Mcliay, Clinton, was groomsman and the ushers were Jack McDonald of Allenford,bro- ther of the bride, and Robert Woods of Ajax, The reception was held at the Royal hotel, Hepworth. The bride travelled in a moss green wool dress with high neck, white fur hat, white gloves and scarf and wore a corsage of tawny roses with gold tie. Mr. and Mrs. Riley will reside at 833 Kennedy road, Orchard Park Manor, apt. 405, Scarbor- ough. Both Mr. and Mrs. Riley are graduates of Teachers' Col- lege, Stratford and are on the Scarborough Board of Education staff. • NORTHSIDE U.C.W. Mrs. William Leeming was hostess on Monday evening, Jan. 8th, for the first meeting of Unit 2 of Northside United Church Women. The president, Mrs. 3. M. Scott, opened the meeting with a reading, "A Housewife's Resolution," and extended wel- coming remarks to the members and outlined several features of the new organization. The min- utes of the December meeting were read by the secretary, Mrs. J. Ure Stewart, followed by roll call, to which 20 members res- ponded. One visitor was present. Mrs. Ross Savauge was appoint- ed delegate to the Huron Presby- terial to be held in Ontario St. United Church, Clinton on Jan, 24th. The study book, "Signals for the Sixties," was ably pres- ented by Mrs. Ross Savauge who -Ili with the chapter, "Youth in Transition, Lost and Found," un- der the following headings: Go- ing Steady, Conforming to the Crowd, Use of the Family Car, and Leaving School Too Early. This was followed with a lively discussion. After the close of the meeting lunch was served by the social committee, Mrs, J, Kellar and Mrs. J. C. MacLennan. A vote of thanks Was moved by Mrs. P. B. Plans are being made for the World's Day bf Prayer Service to be held March 9th at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brodhagen, and all the ladies of the congre- gation are asked to attend along with women of neighbouring churches. It was decided to pre- sent life membership pins to members of the U.L.C.W. who have reached the age of 75 and *hen they are 80 they become Honorary Members. Birthdays were reported by Mrs. G. Rock, Mrs. John L. Ben- newies and Mrs. Minnie Vock. A hymn was sung in their honour. The meeting closed with the Dox elegy.
