judged on 4-H and community ac-
tivities over the past few years.
A very impressive candlelight
service was held on Sunday ev-
ening in the Londesboro United
Church when the CGIT of Con-
stance United Church joined
with the Londesboro-Burne CGIT
in presenting their service. Lead-
ers, Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Reg. Law-
son and Miss Bedcom took parts
throughout the service. Rev, Mr.
Fangs presented the theme story
and, several of the girls took part
in a play as angels. Carol sing-
ing by the choir was enjoyed by
all.

in Canandaigua, N,Y.

and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hay of
Hensall attended the funeral of
Mrs. Robert Norris, Mrs. Mac-
Lean's sister, on Friday at Lon-
don,
Little Diane MacKay, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth MacKay
developed pneumonia and was
taken to Clinton public hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rowntree of
Weston visited a few days with
the former's sister, Mrs. N. Long
and Mr. Long.
The December meeting of the
WMS was held Tuesday after-
noon, Dec. 5. In the absence of
the president, Mrs. Harold Jones
took charge. The theme of the
worship was "Three Wise Men"
Hymn "Angels from the realms
of Glory" was sung. Mrs. Bert
Faber read scripture, Matthew 2:
1-12. The worship service was
read by Mrs. Jones. Sectional
convention report was given by
Mrs. Bert Faber and Mrs. Emer-
son Kyle, Treasurer, Mrs. Edison
McLean gave her report, Host-
esses were Mrs, Archie Parsons
and Mrs. Wm. Bell, Sunshine
report was given by Mrs. Eldon
Jarrott. Moved by Mrs. Ross
Broadfoot and seconded by Mrs.
Emerson Kyle that Xmas boxes
be sent to shut-ins. Rev. A. H.
Johnston showed a film "The
Other Wise Man," Mrs, Howard
Finkbeiner gave courtesy re-
marks and after the singing of
hymn "Silent Night" Rev. John-
ston closed the meeting with
prayer, •
Kippen United Church was
nicely decorated on Wednesday
evening as neighbors and friends
met to honor Kathryn Anderson
on her approaching marriage on
Dec. 16th. The programme was
chaired by Mrs. John Sinclair
and was as follows: Christmas
carols by Mrs. Ross Broadfoot at
piano; reading "What is a hus-
band" by Mrs. Hugh Kendrick;
contests by Mrs. Alex, Townsend
and Gwyn Jones, piano solo "Star
of the East" by Mrs. Ross Broad -
foot; 2nd contest by Mrs, Alex,
Townsend and Gwyn Jones.

clear" was sung by all. Kathryn
was invited to sit on a chair on
the platform and'an address was
read by Miss Marie Sinclair, Miss
Joan Sinclair and Miss Wendy

chairman for an excellent prog
ram of music, singing and read
Ings by the pupils. Santa Claus
arrived with lots of gifts for the
children,
Mr, and Mrs. Carlyle Meikle
have taken up residence in the
village. We welcome them to the
community,
Mr, Lloyd Crawford of Toronto
is visiting at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Craw-
ford.
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Ramsay and
children of Listowel were Sun-
day visitors with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Alex. Ramsay and Billy.
Many relatives and friends at-
tended the funeral of Mrs. Wil-
liam Martin in Exeter on Tues-
day.
Communion service was obser-
ved at Cromarty Church on Sun-
day with Rev, R. Bissett of Av-
onton in charge. Five babies were
presented for baptism. They
were Robert Duncan, son of Mr,
and Mrs, Duncan Scott, Terrance
James, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Templeman, Murray John, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Laing; Val-
eria Ann, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Laverne Wallace, and Kar-
en Joyce, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, John Miller.
Miss Ina Scott of London spent
the week end with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Scott.
Mr. Hugh Scott of OAC,
Guelph, was home with his ,par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Scott on
Sunday,
The:Christmas meeting of the
WMS ; was held at the home of
Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl, Mitchell,
with a good attendance. Mrs. K.
McKellar presided using the
Christmas service in the Glad
Tidings as a worship service
and leading in Scripture reading,
meditation and prayer. During
the service of dedication the
candles were lighted by Mrs. M.
Lamond, Mrs. Grace Scott, Mrs.
Wm, Harper and Mrs. T, L. Scott.
The roll call was answered with
a Christmas thought. Routine re-
ports were given by the secret-
ary and treasurer and offering
dedicated by Mrs, Sorsdahl. Cur-
rent .events were given by each
member and Mrs. Calder McKaig
read anarticle from the Glad
Tidings, Christmas carols were
sung and Mrs, J. M. Scott read
the Glad Tidings prayer. A pleas
ing feature of the meeting was
the presentation of a life mem-
bership pin to Mrs, T. L. Scott
for faithful service in the society.
This being the annual meeting
the president, Mrs. C. McKaig,
took charge for the election of
officers: Reports were given by
the various secretaries and the
treasurer reported a marked in-
crease in receipts for the year.
