TROUSSEAU TEA
Mrs. Eldon Jarrett entertained
at. a trousseau tea on Wednes-
day, Aug, 16 in honour of her
daughter Ruth Ann, bride -elect
of Saturday, Aug. 19.. Receiving
guests with Mrs, Jarrett and
Ruth Ann were Mrs. Wellington
Haist, mother of the groom. Deb-
bie Anderson, Kippen, Linda
Jones, Exeter, and Darlene Pass-
more, Thames Road, were' in
charge of the register,
The dining room and tea room
were nicely decorated with yel-
low and white streamers and the
table centre was of small yellow
daisies and baby's breath.
Mrs, Robert Upshall, Kippen,
and Mrs. Frank Triebner of Ex-
eter, poured tea in the afternoon.
In the evening Mrs. Elizabeth
Anderson and Mr -s, Gideon Koeh-
ler of Zurich poured tea. Serving
in the dining room were Marie
Jarrett, Agnes Oesch, Zurich,
Mary Lou Taylor of Brucefield,
Mrs. Donna Haist and Mrs. Dor-
othy Gaiser of London, and Kath-
ryn Anderson of London. -
Displaying the bride's gifts
were Mrs. Wm. Simms and Bar-
bara Faber of Grand Bend. The
bride's trousseau was displayed
by Marie Gaiser of Grand Bend
and Gail Finlayson of Seaforth.
House lines and woollens were
displayed by Mary Norris, -Sea-
forth, Assisting in the kitchen
were Mrs. Lloyd Jones, Exeter,
Mrs. Oren Grace, Detroit, Mrs.
Elmer Passmore, Thames Road;
Mrs. John Anderson and Mrs.
Emerson Anderson, Hensall,
The Thrifty Kippenettes of
the 4-H Club held a shower in
honor of Ruth Ann Jarrot on
Saturday evening Aug. 12. In-
stead of the usual showers they
had a weiner roast at Snowdens
beach near Drysdale. The host-
esses were Mrs. Wm, Bell, Mrs.
Lloyd Lovell and Mrs. Win,
Caldwell. The girls were enter-
tained with contests and games.
Mrs. Caldwell read the address
and Mrs. Bell presented Ruth
Ann with a lovely clothes ham-
per and magazine rack. After
which Ruth Ann made a suitable
reply and a delicious snack was
served.
Friends and relatives attended
a miscellaneous shower held in
the Kippen Church on Monday
evening Aug. 14th in honour of
Ruth Ann Jarrett, bride -elect of
Saturday, Aug. 19. Everyone was
entertained by readings, musical
instrumentals and piano solos
conducted by Dorothy Turner.
Contests were conducted by
Marion Turner' and Mrs. E. And-
erson. Ruth Ann was then escort-
ed to a nicely decorated chair' at
the front of the church where
Mrs. Harold Jones read the ad-
dress. The bride -elect was then
presented with many useful gifts.
After a very suitable reply a
dainty lunch was served.

with yellow daisies, with steph-
anotis, Flower girl Janice Hoist,
London, Was frocked in mint,
green chiffon, ballerina -length
with matching headdress and ac-
cessories in white, and carried a
basket of white with yellow dais-
ies and stephanotis. Donayon
Brunzlow, of Crediton, attended
the groom, and Douglas Norris,
Kippen, and Thomas Triebner,
Exeter, ushered the guests.
For receiving the 80 guests in
the church parlours the bride's
mother chose a gown of mauve
embroidered chiffon over taffeta
with accessories in black, The
groom's mother wore a navy silk
crepe' ensemble with navy acces-
sories. They wore red rose cor-
sages,
Yellow and white streamers
with large baskets of yellow and
white gladioli formed an ,attract-
ive background for the recep-
tion, while the tables centred
yellow and white dahlias and ba-
by's breath. Tea room attendants
were the Misses Kathryn Ander-
son, Donna Turnbull, Agnes
Oesch, Joyce McFalls, Mary Nor-
ris, and Marie Causer,
For their honeymoon to Port-
age La Prairie, Manitoba, the
bride chose a mauve chiffon
sheath dress over mauve printed
taffeta with a three -quarter -
length duster with accessories in
white and a gardenia corsage.
The young couple will reside
on the groom's farm near Credi-
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Parsons
of Thamesford, Mr. and Mrs. Jo-
seph Carter, Edith, Bernice and
Verna of Clandeboye were Sun-
day evening guests of Mr. and
Mrs, Archie Parsons and boys.
Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Gibson of
Grand Rapids, Mich., visited Sat-
urday with the former's brother-
in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
W. L. Mellis.
