25th Anniversary of
the Wm, McMillans
Mr. and Mrs. William McMil-
Ian marked their 25th wedding
anniversary with a high mass of
thanksgiving on Thursday in St.
Columban's Church. They were
married June 22, 1031, by the late
Rev. Fr. Dantzer. Mrs. McMillan,
the former Mary Williams, is the
daughter of Mrs. Williams and
the late Patrick Williams. Mr.
McMillan is the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Miles McMillan,
They have a family of three,
Anne Marie, R.N., R.C•A.F., of
Goose Bay, Labrador; Noreen
and Danny, at home.
On Saturday evening relatives
and neighbors gathered at the
McMillan home to honor the
bride and groom of 25 years ago.
The attendants at that wedding
were Mrs. McMillan's sister, Ca-
therine, now Mrs. Heeney, Niag-
ara Falls, and Mr. McMillan's
cousin, Hugh McMillan, of Dub-
lin. Both were present Saturday
evening. An address of congrat-
ulations and good wishes was
read and presentation made of a
table lamp and two step-up end
tables, on behalf of the neigh-
bors; a platform rocker from the
Williams family. Other lovely
gifts were received from friends.
A delicious buffet turkey sup-
per was served and the evening
was spent in cards and dancing.
BRODHAGEN
Brodhagen school pupils and
the teacher, Mr. Don Wolfe and
several mothers and the pupils
of Jarmuths school enjoyed a
bus trip to Niagara Falls on Fri-
day.
Mr. Dunbar who has been hir-
ed for our school spent half a
day at the school here.
Mrs. Harold Mogk, Mrs. John
Brodhagen, Mrs. R. Meikel, Mrs,
Herman Leonhardt, Misses Mar-
ie Meyer and Margaret Ford at-
tended the trousseau tea for Shi-
rley Daer at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daer
(Martha Brodhagen) at Auburn
on Saturday.
The sympathy of the commun-
ity is extended to Mr. and Mrs.
Ad Trentowsky and Shirley in
the death of their son and bro-
ther, Larry Trentowsky.
Mervin Dietz and Russell Shol-
dice supervised at the chicken
barbecue at Brussels last Wed-
nesday,
Mrs. Russell Sholdice attended
a shower Thursday evening for
Miss Dorothy Keys at Duff's Un-
ited Church, McKillop, prior to
her marriage to Mack Sholdice,
Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller and
Ruth Ann of Hamilton with Mrs.
Aug. Hillebrecht.
Vacation Bible school will be
held at St. Peter's Lutheran
Church here the week of July 10
to 14. All children of the sur-
rounding district are welcome.

Mitchell Lions Club of which
Russell Sholdice has been presi-
dent for the past year, held their
final meeting of the season at
the community hall here on Fri-
day evening with a chicken bar-
becue at which Derek Nind of
Atwood installed the officers for
the coming year.
Mr. and Mrs: Harold Wurdell
and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hinz
visited in Detroit recently and
attended the Heckman - Curtis
wedding.
Miss Gertrude Herbert of San-
ta Monica, Cal., visited her bro-
ther, Fred and Mrs. Herbert.
Mrs. Barbara McLeod of Mit-
chell with her sister, Mrs. Rach-
el Ahrens for the week end.
On Friday evening the 25th an-
niversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Mueller (Pearl Bennewles) was
celebrated at the community hall
here. Mrs. George Rock read the
address written by Mrs. Fred
Herbert and the couple were
presented with a chrome kitchen
set, writing desk, toaster and el-
ectric mixer.
A farewell party for Mrs. Flor-
ence Regan and family was held
Saturday evening, having sold
their farm, Mitchell RR 5, to Mr.
James Horan, and are moving to
London this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gibb and
girls of Glencoe with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Smyth and Mr. and
Mrs. Ford Dickison.

The W.M.S. of First Presbyter-
ian Church met at the home of
Mrs. Geddes, June 27th. Miss
Belle Campbell, Pres., was in the
chair. Mrs. Russell read the min-
utes. Roll call was answered by
16 ladies. The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs, McGregor. -24

J, W, Thompson invited the la-
dies to her home for the Aug.
meeting, Miss Marian Gray con-
ducted the devotional part of the
meeting. Mrs. Hill read the Scrip-
ture. Prayer was given by Mrs,
Gordon. Mrs. Thompson gave a
paper on Revolutionary Faith.
The topic was taken by Mrs.
Russell. A social half hour was
spent and a delicious lunch was
served by Mrs. Geddes. Miss M.
Gray thanked Mrs. Geddes for
her hospitality.
SWINE CLUB
The regular meeting of the
Seaforth 4-H Swine Club was
held at the home of, Robert Mc-
Millan on Monday, June 26th. A
class of Landrace sows were
judged. Later Mr. McMillan
gave a talk on Record of Produc-
tion for pigs in which he is tak-
ing part.
The meeting was closed and a
delicious lunch was served by
Mrs. McMillan.
DAIRY CLUB
The second regular meeting of
the Seaforth 4-H Dairy Club was
held at the farm of Robert Gem -
mall on June 20 at 8.30 p.m. The
members repeated the 4-H pledge
followed by the minutes of last
meeting and the roll call. 'We
were told of our 4-H bus trip to
Hamilton District which is to be
held July 18th, 1961.
A class of mature Holstein
cows were judged with reasons
given by the members.
Mr. John McTaggart and Mr.
Ron Eyre showed an interesting
film on by-products of milk. A
quiz was answered and lunch
was served by the lunch commit-
tee. Linda Papple thanked Mr.
and • Mrs. Gemmell and Neil Cro-
zier thanked Ron Eyre.
The next meeting will be held
at the farm of Gordan Papple on
July 11, 1961 at 9 p.m.

played in Winthrop on Monday
night. S. Hargraves and K. Hor-
ton led the Brucefield attack

Winthrop Loses to RCAF.
Winthrop lost a close game to
Clinton RCAF in a game called
after 5 innings because of rain.
The score was 7 to 5 when the
rain ended the game. The Win-
throp girls carne on strong with
one run in the 4th and four more
in the 5th but the rally fell
short as the RCAF girls made
their early lead stand up for a
7-5 victory.
EDWIN HENRY McGAVIN
Dr, Edwin Henry McGavin, for-
merly of Tuckersmith, died Mon-
day in Grace Hospital, Windsor.
He was born south of Seaforth,
78 years ago. Surviving are his
wife; a niece, Ml's. Peter Demi-
gen, Windsor, and three nephews
in Reading, Pa,
A funeral service was held in
Windsor on Wednesday.
The body rested at the Box Fu-
neral Home, Seaforth after 8
p.m, Wednesday. A second serv-
ice is being conducted Thursday
at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mait-
land Bank cemetery, Rev. J. C.
