Mr, Jack Sproat of North Bay was a guest recently of Mr, and Mrs. Russell Sproat. Mr, Russell Hays, Detroit, vis- ited relatives in town recently. Ray Dennis fractured his ankle in a fall at the swing at the public School Billy Carnochan will undergo an operation on his hand op Thursday in Sick Children's Hos- pital, London. Mr. and Mrs, Win, Seotehmer spent the past two weeks with friends in Toronto and Guelph. Mrs. John M. Henderson, the former Nellie McIntosh, from De- troit spent the weekend with Miss M. McFadden, Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Ellis and son David spent the weekend -with Mrs, Elva Ellis, Mrs. E, L, Fletcher and child- ren are spending a week with Mrs, Elva Ellis, Miss M, E. Turnbull. spent the weekend in Toronto, Mr. Finlay McKeroher and Miss Helen and Mr, Robert Campbell left on Tuesday for the West Coast. Mrs. Edward Case is in hospital owing to a fall in her home. Miss Nancy Keating, Merriton, was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. A, Wright, James St, GROUP MEETS Group 2, W, A., Northside Un- ited Church held their June meet- ing at the home of Mrs, Frank Storey with 19 inembers present. The devotional part of the meet- ing was conducted by Mrs. Ross Savauge and Mrs, Laura Work- man. Mrs. J. M, Scott presided for the business and announced the strawberry supper to be held on June 28. Mrs. Workman spoke on W. A. work and stressed how a group could best serve its. church. A humorous reading "Levinski at the Wedding" was presented by Mrs. Willis Dandas. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. H. Hugill and Mrs. L. Carter. Mrs. W. Leeming expres- sed the thanks of the group to Mrs. Storey and all those taking part, "ST. THOMAS' W. A. MEETING A pot luck supper was held lii the home of Miss D. Parke to open the last meeting of W. A. until September, Mrs. McGavin the president presided with 18 members and one guest present. The meeting opened with the Gospel, Isaiah 42; 'followed by Litany, a prayer for our prayer partner, and the Lord's Prayer. Mrs,. Harvey finished on last year's study book with a grand talk on 'Church Unity, Next meet- ing, Mrs. Harvey will start on our new book "Jesus Christ" The light of the world. Last month's minutes were read, and Miss Parke read treasurer's report. The bale was got together to send away, and Mrs, Bill 'Brown_ is knitting a sweater for the Mohawk Mission, The spring Deanery meeting that was held in Brussels was dis- cussed. Mrs. Netzke's traveling apron. was opened, $6 was taken from it for our social service work. We were sorry to hear Mrs, Case was in Hospital, and were pleased to have Mrs, Southgate back with us again, The collection was taken up and dedicated, and Mrs. McGavin ended the meeting with a prayer. A social time was enjoyed by all and Mrs. MaGavin thanked Miss Parke for the use of her home, and wished all members a pleasant summer. Next meeting, 1st Tuesday in September, CROMARTY Mr. and Mrs, Robert 'Dodds at- tended the Spring Show at Clinton on Saturday and spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glazier of Clinton. Misses Ruth and Susan Hask- ett of Stratford spent the week- end with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyce. Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace and Debbie and Mrs: Grace Scott visit- ed on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cadick and family at Sar- nia. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Dow, Car- ol Ann and Brian attended Roy's Church Anniversary Service on Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Christie. Rev. and Mrs. Daynard and Heather of Staffa and Rev, and Mrs. Moore of Onieda were also guests of tea. CUT RIBBON—Fred J. Miss Janice Christie of Kitch- ener spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Christie. Mrs. M. Houghton visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Houghton, Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. Doug. Gale, Mit- chell were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Laing. Mr, Andrew McLachlan visited at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Carter Kerslake on Sunday, Rev, Dr, Hanley of London conducted the service in Crom- arty Church on Sunday and read the edict declaring the pulpit va- cant, The June meeting of the WMS was held at the home of Mrs. E, Moore with Mrs. M, Lammond presiding and opening the meet- ing with a suitable poem. Psalm 107 was read responsively, and Mrs, Lammond led in meditation and prayer. The roll call was an- swered by naming a missionary. Miss Olive Speare had charge of the Study Book with Mrs, T, Laing assisting. Mrs. Lloyd Sors- dahl led in the Glad Tiding's prayer. The president, Mrs. Cal- der McKaig conducted the busi- ness period. The topic was given by Mrs. Will Miller, and Mrs. T. L. Scott gave a detailed report of the Synodical which was held in Sarnia in April, Some of the mem- bars who attended the meeting of Council in Stratford brought some interesting impressions gathered there, Mrs, T. L. Scott conducted a Bible quiz and Mr's, Sadie Scott closed the meeting with prayer. A dainty lunch was served with Mrs. E. MoKaig and Mrs. W. Harper as committee in charge.
