HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Seaforth News, 1961-04-27, Page 8Walton Area Board Resigns At a Meeting Of over. 100 rate- payers of Morris Township, held in the township hell recently, the Township school Area board resigned, when petitions from the various school Realms, eitcept Walton, were read, opposing the board's proposed plan to build two new rooms at the Walton, school, provided two sections in" Grey Township would join the plan, The board's action stemmed from a study of school attendance Problems in the Walton school, In its opinion the board felt the most economical answer to the overcrowding at the school was a joint effort with two of the Grey Township sections, to build two rooms to the school and when the acoonnnodation became available, to close several of the surround- ing one -room schools which have a small attendance and transport the students from the latter sea tions to the enlarged Walton school, This plan was approved by a majority vote of the board, and presented to the ratepayers, The various school sections involved objected to the plan on the grounds that it would be costly, and that a number of the existing schools would be closed. BRODHAGEN Mr, Donald Dunbar of Ethel, Ont, has been accepted as teach- er of our Brodhagen School for next September succeeding Mr. Donald Wolfe who has been teaching here the past two years. Mr. Wolfe will be teaching in London. Mr. Dunbar, 33, has been teaching for six years, For three years he was principal of Larder Lake Public School and the past year has been teaching music in schools in Huron County. The sympathy of the communi- ty is extended to Mrs. Albert Hinz, Mrs. Carl Hillebrecht and Mr, Frank Eickmeir in the death of their sister Mrs. Mark Peel (Esther Eickmeir) of Toronto. Funeral services and burial took place at St. Peter's Lutheran Church here on Monday. Members of the Chamber of Commerce here planted trees, evergreen, elm, maple and ash on the grounds of the community park last week, Mrs. Dick Watson and Donald at the home of Mr. and Mrs, L. Wolfe, Kitchener for a few days, Rev. Erie Schultz and Mrs, Mar- tin Schultz of Waterloo, Miss Shirley Deer and lilr. H. Ralston of London at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mogk recently, Roger Sholdice has been chosen as camp representative for this district for Edgewood Camp, Ed- en Mills, Ont., near Guelph. SADLER Robt. A. Sadler, life-long resi- dent of Staffa, died at hie home Monday morning at the age of 93 years. He had been in ailing health for several years and ser- iously ill the past week. He was born in Staffa, Oct. 15, 1867, son of the late Mr. and Mrs, John Sadler (Isabella 'Barbour). On Jan. 4, 1.893, he married Rebecca Sillery, He was a member of Staf- fa United Church, Besides his wife, he is survived by one eon, John of Mitchell; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Reed of Staffs; one sister, Mrs. David (Annabelle) Eiberman, Mitchell, one grand- son, Robert Sadler of Staffa. He was predeceased by one brother and One sister. The body was at the family residence in Staffa, where the funeral service was held Wednesday, April 26, at 2,30 p.m. Rev. Albert' H.
