Margaret Elizabeth Cardno of Seaforth and Samuel Jehn MaeKenzie of Georgetown, on Feb, 19th, Lucy Blanche Petle MeKillop, and Alvin ALUMS Stevens, Hullett. Roads have been badly drifted and Kincardine hockey team were unable to reach Seaforth when their train stuck in the snow near Wiughans, Au article telling 'of the salt industry, in Seaforth was written by John MacTavish. Three firms produced about 100 barrels a 'day of salt and employed 125 oven during the salt boom, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Beattie re- turned to their home in Egmond- ville after spending two months in Toronto. J, R. Murdoch of Brucefield shipped a car load of honey for export to England, MissMargaret Elgie of Toron- to visited her mother, Mrs. Robt. Elgie, Kippen. Vernon Terryberry, Tucker - smith, held a clearing sale, as he was leaving the farm. Mr, and Mrs. August Wankel celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. W. L, Querenges- ser of Brodhagen observed their 25th wedding anniversary. Wedding: At St. Columban, Miss Mary Feeney and Mr, Joe Eckert, Mr.:and Mrs. James Bishop, of Walton, and Mrs. Thos. Clark, of Morris, spent a few days in Tor- onto, Norman Alexander, of O.A.0 Guelph, spent the weekend With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Alexander, Kippen. The town council offered 10,- 000 0;000 clean brick for sale, from the 3lumphouse and smoke .stack :at the old -waterworks, Robert Passmore occupied the pulpit of Hensall United Church owing to the serious ^illness .of Rev. Arthur Sinclair. 'FORTY YEARS AGO From The Seaforth News February 1921. Arnold Case has purchased the farm of his father, the late Fran- cis Case. Mr. Fulcher of Stratford is managing the Cockburn store here, Mr. Wankel has sold his farm at Roxboro to Mr. Agar of Luck - now, Mr•. Snelling has sold his farm at Walton to John Clark. John Murray was elected presi- dent of McKillop School Fair. Dir- ectors are John Lane, Ed Horan, Wm. McClure, Joseph McQuaid, Herald Lawrence, Scott Bolton, Geo. Bennewies, John Shannon, Geo. Love, Isaac Hudson. F. Fow- ler is secretary. Walton U.F.O. sold a baby beef weighing 590 lbs. for 10c a lb., owned by Wilbur Turnbull and shipped by J. J. McGavin. Thos. Brown has sold his Bar - age to James Carlin of Hensall. Many from Dublin attended Father Nicholson's first Mass, at Logan Church. Farmers are hauling gravel on the McKillop -Logan boundary as far as the chemical plant, which has purchased 900 acres of the pine swamp and will use the stumps. Mrs. J. Warwick left for the West to live with her son. Peter F. Doig of Howick Town- ship is warden of Huron County for 1921. Stanley Nichol won first prize in the Boy Scout speaking com- petition. Mr. M. Murdie, who has been township clerk of McKillop for 16 years has resigned. John Mc- Nay is his successor. Mr. Consigney has disposed of his restaurant to Cheoros Bros. and J. James of Mitchell. Mr. F. S. Savauge was elected president of the northern district of the Ontario Jewellers' Associ- ation. Marriages: Leila Margaret Isa- bel Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Smith, to Adin Forbes, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Forbes, all of McKillop. Evelyn Mildred Blake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Blake. to David MacLean, of Tuckersmith. Thomas Gillespie, who has been teaching in the west, visited rel- atives here. John Morrison has sold his house on Centre Street to John Webster of McKillop. Sales at the United Farmers Co-operative store at Seaforth for the past year totalled $35,946,, with a gross profit of $4,313.76. Huron is the first county to make a move to improve the quality of livestock by a camp- aign against scrub and grade bulls. William Black is a member of the county committee. Com- mittee in Tuckersmith is William Charters, Andrew Bell, Joe Crich, T. G. Shillinglaw, William Pep- per, John Hay, Thos, Coleman. HENSALL Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary The Feb, meeting of the Arn- old Circle Evening Auxiliary was held in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Monday evening with Mrs. Ed Fink presiding, Mrs. Barry Hoy and Mrs. Alf Scholl were in charge of the worship us- ing The World's Day of Prayer Service as the theme. 20 visits were recorded. The roll call was answered with a bible verse us- ing the Word "Love". Arrange- ments were made for the Easter Thank -Offering meeting, When the Lutheran and Evangelical Churches of Zurich, also the Sen- ior WMS of Carmel Church will be guests. Miss Sommerville of Goderich Is to be the guest speak- er. A discussion took place over sending two delegates to the Syn- odical being held in Sarnia in April, Refreshments were served by FINAL.
