Mrs, Ed Brooks, Staffa, visited on Monday with her parents, Mr. and. Mrs. Geo. Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilds and son Kevin of Liman visited dur- ing the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Howe. Many friends from this district attended the funeral of the late Mr, Frank Elliott of Staffa which was held in Mitchell on Saturday. The February meeting of the WMS was held at the home of Mrs. E. Moore with Miss Olive Spears presiding. She opened the meeting with a poem followed with the scripture lesson, medi- tation, and prayer. Mrs. Grace Scott had charge of the Study Book lesson, "Why go into all the World together" with Mrs. L. Sorsdahl, Mrs. Sadie Scott and Mrs. T. Laing assisting. The roll call was answered by 17 mem- bers with a verse on prayer, Mrs, Calder McKaig read the Glad Tidings prayer. The topic "The Rural Church, will,it live or die?" was given by Mrs. T. Laing, Cur- rent events were given by Mrs. N. Harburn. The president, Mrs. C. McKaig conducted the busi- ness when arrangements for the World's Day of Prayer were com- pleted, the meeting to be held at Staffs. United Church. The meet- ing closed with prayer by Mrs, Will Miller. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. John Wallace and Mrs. W. Miller. STAFFA The W. I. card party which was to be held Friday evening Feb. 3 was canceled due to bad weath- er. It is to be held this Friday, Feb, 10th. The sympathy of the communi- ty is extended to the family of the late Frank Elliott who pas- sed away in Victoria Hospital, London, on Wednesday evening, Feb. 1st. A large number from this community attended the Junior Farmers' variety night which was held in the Crystal Palace, Mit- chell on Friday evening, Misses Joan Frances and Cher- yl Wagner spent the weekend with Miss Kaye Warden, Staffa. Eric Norris spent the weekend at his home here. Miss Ethel -Mae Norris, Toron- to, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Norris, Staffa, was shaken up in a car accident in Toronto, Friday evening, Her companion Mr. Jim Lyall was not injured. Mr. A. Braite, Toronto, hus- band of the former Margaret Nor- ris of Staffa has been transferred to Montreal. His duties to com- mence on Feb. 20. He is employed with the Bell Telephone. Group 1 of the W. I. quilted a crib quilt at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Miller on Tuesday after- noon. Kyle, Mrs. Verne Alderdice, DUBLIN WILLIAM .MAUGHAN William Maughan, 79, passed away in Calgary on Jan, 30. A native of Hibbert Township, he left for the Canadian West a, round 1900. He was an oil well drilling contractor at the Turner Valley and Leduc Oil Fields and later at the Sunburst Oil Fields in Montana. Since 1935 he has lived in Calgary. He is survived by one son Marlin, in Montana; two daughters in Alberta, and 9 grandchildren, also one brother, Joe, of Lethbridge, Alberta. Mr. Martin Feeney of RR 2, Dublin, received the word of his death the past week. Mrs. Jim Cronin and Mr. Steve Murray were the winners of the prizes of $15 in the telephone euchre sponsored by the OWL. Mr. Chas. Fee of London is the new C.N.R. Depot Agent. Mr. R. Hicks of Clinton who has been agent here for the past three years has gone to Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. Fee have rented the home vacated by Lorne Cronin. Karen and John thanked everyone for the party and in- vited all to their trailer home at Pleasant Valley Trailer Court at Lakeview, Port Credit. An en- 'oyable evening was spent in eu- chre games and refreshments and a delicious lunch were serv- ed by Mrs. Menheere assisted by Mrs. Harold Nicholson and nei- ghboring ladies. Dublin high school held their annual progressive euchre party "n St. Patricks hall on Tuesday night with 35 tables playing eu- chre. Rev. R. Durand presented the prizes: Mrs. John E.
