Mrs. L. F. Ford, vice-president, in the ab- sence of the president, opened the meeting reading the 23rd Psalm followed by prayers, The roll call and minutes of the -De- cember meeting were read by the secretary, Mrs. G. Stockwell, In. the absence of the treasurer, Mrs. Earl Dinsmore gave the treas- urer's report. Cards were signed by those present to be sent to Mrs. A. Reid and Mrs. C. Row - entre who are in Scott Memorial Hospital. The date for the Annu- al Bazaar and tea was set for November 15th. There is to be a shower for 'the knitting booth tat the February meeting. The rector, Rev. H. Donaldson presided for the' election of offi- cers. The new trademark is the first step in a comprehensive re -design program that will reflectthe continuing moderni a - tion of the system. Bright colour schemes' incorporating -the new trademark as. shown on this truck and model locomotive will eventually be . applied to all items of the CN; ears and coaches, signs, telegraph forms, stations, letterheads, uniforms and advertising: The re -design program is aimed at building and extending the reputation of the CNR as a company interested in providing good service and merchandising it with modern marketing methods. Summary Day Summary Day for the project "The Third Meal" will be held in Wroxeter Community Hall Wed- nesday, Jan. 25. The W. I's which took part in the Leadership Training School program will be, participating: in the Summary Day. Special entertainment is be- ing prepared by members from some of the groups. Miss Mary Maclnnes, Home Economics Ser- vice, Toronto, will be in attend- ance to comment on the work completed and to discuss prob- lems which have arisen. All Institute members and friends are welcome. A buffet luncheon will be served at 12 noon; each lady is requested to bring enough lunch for herself and her own cutlery. I. held a successful progressive euchre and Lost Heir party in the Walton hall last Fri- day evening when 21 tables were at play. The meeting opened with hymn 500 with Bon- nie Uhler at the piano. Eric Wil- liamson illiamson read the Call to Worship followed by hymn 681, Mrs. Bewley told how God talks to us through the Bible and Brenda Bewley read Hebrews 1: 1-3 with Mrs. Bewley explaining the scripture. Karen McDonald led in prayer. Bruce Clark and Larry Walters passed -the offer- ing plates and Eric Williamson dedicated the offering with pray- er, Bruce Clark read the treasur- er's report stating that laat year. we sent $87.80 to the Presbytery Treasurer and a 25 lb gift to Kor- ea, Jack McCall read the minutes and Eric Williamson conducted the business. Next month Sherrill Craig will play the piano. John Muir will lead in prayer and Neil Williamson will read the scrip- ture. Williamson with 20 members pre- sent. and Mrs, Donald Buchanan presiding. The meeting was opin- ed with hymn 671 and prayer by Mrs, H, Suialldon. Scripture read- ing by Mrs, H. McCallum. Mrs. Buchanan took the topic "Light for the New Year" based on John 11. Mrs, Jim Williamson read a "Ancient Pra er", poem entitled An o Y Business Was attended to and the meeting was closed with "God Save The Queen", The afternoon was spent quilting. Lunch was served: by the hostess, Mrs. Geo. Williamson, Mrs. Herb William- son, Mrs. Jim Williamson and Mrs. Baan, and a social halt hour enjoyed. STAFFA The W, I. held a very success- ful euchre party in Staffa hall on Friday evening Jan. 6. There were 24 tables in play with prizes won by Miss O. Speare and Mr. R. Dodds, Cromarty, Gerald Scott and Mr. C. Miller, Staffa, Mr, Bill Lamport, Hensall, and Mr. Wib Glanville, Staffa. Group 1 were in charge of the evening, Miss Kaye Warden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Worden, Staff a, was a panelist on the pop- ular CFPL Television show, Take Your Choice, on Saturday even- ing, Jan. 14. Kenneth Parsons is a patient in Stratford General Hospital. He was operated on for appendicitis, Thursday. Agar spent a few days in Hamilton last week where Mr. Agar was attending the Dairymen's Convention. BRUCEFIELD Mr. and Mrs. Harold'Iiodgins of Birr visited with Mrs. Chas. Clif- ton on Wednesday last. The I,0.0,2' members of Bruce - field and Varna Lodge held a suc- cessful euchre party on Friday evening, Jan, 11th when about 70 attended. Prizes went to: Ladies high, Mrs, Lorne Wilson; cons„ Mrs. Jds, Thomson; gent's high, Mac Wilson; cons., Dick Lobb. The next party will be held in the IOOF hall on Friday, Feb. 3. The meeting closed after the members served doughnuts and coffee. . The annual meeting of Bruce - field United Church will be held on Monday evening, Jan, 23rd at 7 o'clock. Jan. 14th at 9 a,nt, The meet- ing was opened by repeating the 4H pledge and the roll call was answered by all the members. Margaret Jean Broadfoot read the minutes of the last meeting and Julie Chapple was elected secretary for the next meeting. The girls took notes on stay - stitching and did a sample of stay -stitching. They also did dif- ferent samples of hemming and a sample of overcasting, The next meeting is to be held at the home of Carol Varley on Jan. 28th at 9 a.m. A discussion was held on their record book covers and it was decided to have white brist- ol board with pink letters. The roll call and home assignments were then given out. The meet- ing closed by singing the Nation- al Anthem.
