WILLIAM G. PARKER
William George Parker, 61, a
life-long resident of the area died
suddenly Saturday wliile deliver-
ing a load of feed at the farm of
Rochus Faber, Kippen. He was
employed by the Mickle grain
mill here for 11 years, He is sur-
vived by his wife, the former Eva
Norris, two sons, Arthur, Sea -
forth, and William at home, two
daughters, Mise; Betty Parker,
London, and Mrs. Clarence. (Mar-
garet) Ruston, 74 East Gore St.,
Stratford, and three brothers,
Wilbert and Harold, Hensali, and
Gordon, Exeter. The body was at
the Bonthron funeral home,, Hen -
sell, where a funeral service was
held Monday at 1.30 p.m, with
burial in McTaggart's Cemetery.
Amber Lodge .Holds Euchre
Noble Grand Mrs. Ernie Chip -
chase presided for the meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge 349 on
Wednesday evening. A meeting
of the committees of the C.P.T.
fund will be held in, the Lodge
rooms on Thursday, Jan. 12th.
Mrs. Archie MacGregor, treas.,
gave the financial report. Record-
ing Secretary, Mrs. John Ingram
read notes of thankyou from shut-
ins remembered with treats, and
flowers and checks by the C;P.T.
at Christmas. The changes in by-
laws were given the third and
final reading by the,Noble Grand.
The 'property committee were in-
structed to enquire about an el-
ectric stove
the hall.
Following the meeting the

progressive euchre party. Prize

entertained a number of ladies
from Brucefleld and Clinton on
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Zapfe and
son Glen, Byron, spent the week
end with relatives and friends in
the village.
Mrs. Mac Wilson visited with
friends in London for a few days
and Mrs. Stackhouse returned
home after visiting for ten days
with her daughter, Mrs. S. Neale
and son, Mr. Elwood Stackhouse,
Wilton Grove.
Mrs. T. Hamilton, Auburn, is
visiting with friends in Brumfield
and Egmondville.
Mr. Jack Broadfoot returned
to the OAC at Guelph.
Mr, Neil McGregor left last
week to attend university at Lon-
don.

Miss Jean Scott opened the
Ladies' Aid meeting of First
Presbyterian Church with words
of greeting for the New Year. Mrs.
W. A, Wright read a poem "Way.
side Church". The hymn "Stand-
ing at the Portal of the Opening
Year" was sung followed by the
minutes and the reading of annual
reports.. Mrs. Whyte read several
letters of thanks from shut-ins
who had received gift boxes at
Christmas. Mrs. 1. Cairns sang a
beautiful solo "My Cathedral" an.

J, McGregor. The treasurer's re-
port was given by Mrs, Butt,
which showed a very successful
year. Rev. D. L. Elder spoke on
the topic "On the other side of
the Hill", referring to the New
Year ahead. If we look unto Je-
sus and fully trust Him through
each day, He will keep us safe in
His care forever more. Mrs.
W. A. Wright moved a vote of
thanks to Mr. Elder and Mrs.
Cairns. The meeting closed with
hymn 696 followed by The Lord's
Prayer in unison. Lunch was
served by the ladies of the execu-

4H Club News fly Susan Friend
The Dublin Colleens held their
8th meeting on Saturday at the
home of Judy and Susan Friend.
Betty Ann' Butters presided at the
business meeting. We talked
about our record books and Ach-
ievement Day. We decided on our
book covers. Ourleader, Mrs.
Friend talked about care of the
hair, and showed us how to
make a shampoo. We also learned
about care and choosing nylon
stockings, shoes, care of legs,
posture and washing woolens.
We practised darning. Lunch was
served by Judy and. Susan.

Owen Sound with Mrs. John Eck-
ert.

Group 4 W. A. of Northside Un-
ited Church met at the home of r
Mrs. J. Bach, with 16 members
present. Mrs, McOuaig was in
charge. of Devotional with Mrs.
Lindsay assisting in prayer. Mrs.
J. Turnbull, our president was in
charge of the business part of the
meeting. Our project for this
year for helping to raise money,
is a. novelty apron which was dis-
tributed to each member. It was
decided to dispense with the Tal-
ent Money, but to carry on with
our Sunshine Bags.
It was decided that a few of
our members meet some after-
noon to make plans to make a
quilt, which will be donated to
give it to some worthy organiza-
tion, Mrs• Hudson thanked our
hostess and lunch committee,
P. Hoag Moves
To Strathroy
The following is from the
Lucknow Sentinel:
Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Hoag have
moved to Strathroy to make their
home. They left the village on
Friday. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Mc-
Leod and family have moved to
the residence near the High
School vacated by Mr. and Mrs.
Hoag. Mr. McLeod is a member
of the High School Staff.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoag made many
friends during their residence,
here. Both were faithful members
of Lucknow United Church' and
Mrs. Hoag was very active in the
W. A. and W.M.S., having given
able leadership locally and in the
Presbyterial. Mr. Hoag was act•
ive in the Masonic fraternity, and
his work in organizing and dile
ecting the High School Band will'
long be remembered.
Mr. Hoag was a member of
the High School staff for sixteen
years; coming to liucknow from
Seaforth in 1944 to serve under
the principalship of Miss F. E.
MacLean until her retirement two,
years later, Mr. Hoag succeeded
Miss MacLean, On January 1st,
1951, the Lucknow District 'High
School Area came into being and
in September 1953 the' new high
school was officially opened. Mr.
Hoag's retirement became effect-
ive last June and since then he
and Mrs. Hoag have continued to
reside here.
Upon Mr, Hoag's retirement
he was honored by members of
the High School Board and by
the student body, whose good
wishes at that time are still most
applicable now and were summed
,up thusly, "wherever your lot is
east, may your future life be
crowned with health and happi-
ness "
Mrs. Hoag was guest of hon-
our at a friendship tea held at
the home of Mrs. Harold Treleae
yen recently. Mrs. J. Wesley.
Joynt poured tea and Mrs, J. Lit-
tle and Miss Ruth Treleaven as -
Meted in serving the guests. Mrs,
Joynt expressed the regret of
the group that Mrs. Hoag was;
leaving the community and wish-
ed her every happiness in her
new home. Mrs, Hoag was pre-

Hinz, in a London Hospital. The

The Service was opened with
prayer by Rev. Thomas, who also
read the scripture ,rand offered
prayer for members. He specially
thanked the ladies for the lead-
ership given during his ministry.
He then gave the right hand of
fellowship to Mrs, N. Reid and
Mrs, D, Watson, the two new
presidents, A hymn of dedication
was sung. The new president of
the WMS, Mrs. Watson, then took
charge. She read a scripture and
a suitable hymn on seasons. Mrs.
