County Property Committee Report The following is the report of the Property Committee at the recent meeting of Huron County Council. Your Property Committee have proceeded to make certain eltaa- ges in connection with the accom- modation available in the Court House, At the last session of the Council, certain changes were agreed upon and these have now been completed In more detail by your committee, The Clerk -Treasurer's Depart- ment has now been altered and the staff are now located in the north office, The Clerk -Treasur- er has his private office in be- tween the general office and the board room. The hoard room is now set up and is used both as a board room and a reception centre. Your committee feel that the arrangements as they now stand, are most satisfactory and more convenient for all parties concerned. At the last session of Coun- cil, it was brought to the atten- tion of the Pi'opei'ty Committee that various papers and docu- ments being put out for the gar- bage collection, were blown a- round the streets of the town. It was therefore agreed that an in- cinerator should be purchased, to be installed in the Court House to avoid this happening in the fu- ture. Tho matter was discuessd by your Property Committee and a price from the Union Gas was received, in the amount of $435, for this installation. The Gas company in addition to placing this service in the Court House, have made allowance for any fu- ture expansion for the use of gas, which might be desired at a lat- er date. The matter et cars being brought into the Court House area was discussed, and it was agreed that the Clerk should ad- vise all parties concerned that vehicles are allowed in this area only for loading and unloading purposes and must not remain parked in this area for any length of time. Tenders were received from various suppliers in connection with a new furnace for the Reg- istry Office. The following tend- ers were received: Worsell Bros„ Gas 629.00. Oil 1098.00; Goderich Plumbing & Heating, Gas 335.00. Oil 576.60; MacDonald Electric, Gas 730,00, t,il 790.00; Herco, Gas 575.00 & 185.00, 011 725,00; Near & Hoffuteyer, Gas 796,50. 011 835.00, The committee discussed the situation and agreed in the first instance that they would install a gas heating unit, The various specifications and details in con- nection with the tenders were then reviewed by the committee and it was agreed that the tender of Near & Hoffuteyer in the_ am- ount of $795,60 for the installa- tion of the said furnace was the most satisfactory tender received to do a proper heating job, Tho Clerk brought to the at- tention of the Committee that the rugs in the Court Room and Jud- ges' Chambers were in need of cleaning and moth -proofing; the Committee authorized that this be carried out as soon as pos. sib] e, The Committee recommend to Council that the members of the jail staff be granted a $15 Christ- mas bonus. The Committee also reeont• mend to Council that they en - DANCING BRODHAGION COM, CENTRE Friday, December 2 Desjardine's Orchestra Admission 75c dorso their motion authorizing an additional $25.00 for Christ - marl decimations, if needed, A report from the General Au- ciden sa ' e l lu )taac Cu,(' u. was road to the (ionunittsie and the rueonun• eid.ition regarding a relief valve eel at 00 wore than 85 -pound pressure be installed 00 the hot water Leak in the Registry Ofl'Yee, was approved. lo order to establish a proper control on lurnisintigs, went and and supplies, being purchas- ed fur the Court !louse, Jail and Registry wilco, your committee would recommend to county Council that a purchase oi'dt'1' system be installed under tlio direction of the Clerk -Treasurer. T1iis is a true story. One of our telephone people recently passed a neighbourhood lunch counter where some children were about to order a second round of milk shakes and soft drinks. One little boy, called Jimmy, found he only had one diene left. He announced fh'mly: "I can't spend my telephone money!" Obviously, Jimmy's parents had convinced him that he'd !lever have to worry --nor would they—about being late o1' getting lost if he always kept a dime for a phone call: there's always a telephone nearby! So Jimmy's telephone clime buys his mother peace of mind ... it seems like such a good idea that children know how to reach home by phone, THE BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF CANADA
