TRIBUTE TO
LATE
,Mayor Beverley. Ir, Christie died
Monday afternoon at Scott Mens-
oriel Hospital, after five weeks
illness. Iie was 52, and serving
lits third term as mayor of Sea -
forth,

board for a number of years, of

he was elected to Seaforth Town

continued to serve as a councillor

Mr, Christie was born in Mary -
borough Township in Wellington
County, and moved to Seaforth in

Canadian National Railways eta -
tion agent while fit Moorefield.

The funeral took place on Wed-
nesday afternoon from the G. A.
Whitney funeral Koine. Rev, J. C.
Britton of Northside United
Church conducted the service at
2 p.m. Burial was in Maitlanclbank
Cemetery.

MISS RO SA SIIYIPSON
The death occurred Saturday
at Seaforth of Miss Rosa Simpson,
81. She .was a native of Walton,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mira,
James Simpson. For the past 17
years, she had lived in. Seaforth,
where she was a member' of North-
side United Church. Surviving are
two sisters, Mrs. Ileary Deem, of
Brantford, and Nits. A, McLaren,
Toronto. Funeral service was held
at the G. A. Whitney funeral home
at Seaforth, conducted by Rev. D.
Fry, on Monday afternoon at 2
p.m. Burial was in Brussels cem-
etemP.

annual fail fair at Seaforth and
will be the second under the new
status of a Class 13 fair. The slo-

forth Junior Fair for 4-13 Junior
'Farmers and Junior Institutes of
Pluron County. The Junior Fair

Brydges, The bride is the only
daughter of Mr, and elm. Harvey
Taylor, R. 1, Londesboro, and the
groom is the elder- son of 'Mrs.
Blydges and the late Mr, William

The Rev, H. Fnnge performed
the double ring ceremony. Mrs.
Willie Van Egmoud who played
the wedding music, also perform-
ed the same duty at the wedding
of the bride's parents, (Mrs, Don
Andrews sang "The Wedding
Prayer" before the ceremony and
during the signing of the register
sang "I'll Walls Beside You".
The bride given in marriage by
her father was lovely in a gown
of white sheer organza over tulle
and taffeta featuring chantilly
lace motifs. The snugly fitted bo-
dice was graced with short sleeves
and matching gloves, sabt^ina
neckline, and sprinkled with seed
pearls. The bouffant skirt had a
crushed oumberbund failing to a
brush train, Her finger-tip veil of
French sills illusion was held by
a erewn at pearls and she carried
a white Bible showered with
stephanotis and satin streamers.
The bridesmaids, Miss Joy
Montgomery and Miss Louise
Jefferson wore similar gowns of
Dior blue sills organza. The
strapless dresses had matebdng
boleros, a large self bow ou the
skirt and their w'himsie hats were
of blue net and velvet. They car-
ried bouquets of white shasta
mums,
Two little nieces of the groom,

Joanne Downie of Penetang were
dainy flower girls in white silk
organza over blue, white flowered
headdressee and carried nose-
gays of white baby plums,

A reception followed at the
home of the bride where lunch

Arnold Johnston Taylor, of
Brucefleld, and Marylyn Jean
Scott were united in marriage by
Rev, W. H. Summerell at Duff's
United Church, McKillop, on July
16th at 2 o'clock. The bride is
the (laughter of Mr, and Mrs. Ro
beet' M. Scott, RR 1, Seaforth, and
the groom 1s the son of Mr, and
airs. Victor Taylor of Brumfield.
It was a double ring ceremony.
The church was decorated with
caruations and roses, ferns and
candelabra.
Bridesmaids were Miss June
Smith, RR 5, Seaforth, and Mies
Elaine Taylor, sister of the groom,
of Brucefleld. Miss Marguerite
Scott, RR 1, Seaforth, was maid
of honor. Mr. Morley Taylor of
Sarnia, brother of the groom was
groomsman, Uehees were Mr, Ro-
bert Scott, brother of the bride,
and Mr, 'Murray Cockwell, Listo-
wel,
The bride wore a dress of waltz
length, chantilly lace over pleated
net and satin with a fitted bodice
coming to a point at the waist; ba-
teau neckline and long lits point
sleeves, Ruffles of lace and net
full Pram the waistline at the
front, short chapel trait. Front
decorated with iridescent se-
quins and pearls, tiara encrested
of pearl and iridescent sequins,
and finger tip veil. IIer flowers
were deep pink roses and ferns.
The bride's travelling costume
was a moss green and white
sheath dress and matching coat,
white accessories, corsage of pink
roses.
The bridesmaids wore mauve
nylon over mauve taffeta with
mauve cumberbund and bow with
boat neckline, cascade of yellow
carnations with mauve tips. The
maid of honor's dress was green
nylon over yellow taffeta with
green taffeta cumberbund and bow
with boat neckline; Hewers, cas-
cade at yellow with mauve tips.
The flower girls were twins,
Bonnie and Betty Taylor, wear-
ing green nylon over yellow taf-
feta, and cascade of yellow car-
nations with mauve tips. .Stephen
Taylor was ring bearer.
Mrs, Mervin Pipe played the
traditional wedding music. Mr,
Dan McDonald of Walton sang
",Wedding Prayer" and "Because.
The reception was in the parlor
of the church. Assistants were
(Mrs. Bruce Coleman, Mrs. Lloyd
Wheeler, Mrs. Clarence McCut-
nheon, Mr's, Jack Coults, Miss
Linda Papple. The linen table
cloth and dishes at the head
table were Arnold's grandparents,
Mr, and Mrs. Thos. Campbell, a
wedding gift of 50 years ago, and
Jean's grandparents, Mr, and

COUNCIL TO CARRY ON
Town officials are of the opin-
ion that it would not be neces-
sary to fill the vacancy for the
balance of the torn in Seaforth
council caused by the passisg of
Mayor B. F, Christie on Monday.
The sections of the statutes re-
ferring to cotnneil vacancies do
not provide for filling a vacant
seat 1111(.01' those circumstances,
Councillor Ed, Daly was ap-
pointed Acting Mayor at the Jttly
meeting,

light meeting at the Huron Coun-
ty Home on Tuesday, Jttly 26011,
I -Ie was elected to the township
council in 1920 and after serving
as councillor for seven years was
asked to accept the municipal
treasurershtp, 101110,1 office he fill-
ed for 13 years. The County of
Huron appointed him patrolman
for the county road between Bea-
forth
eaforth and Winthrop in 1927.
Mr. and 'Mrs. (Medd retired to
Seafortlt. in 1951.
He was an adherent of North-
side United Cltureh, Mr, Medd
followed current events with In-
terest.
Besides bis wife he is survived
by two daughters, Olive, Mrs. Ed
Go(lkhr, Walton, and ida, Mrs,
Wm, Livingston, Hullett; also
one sister, Mrs. George Layton,
Exeter, and one brother, ,lames of
Hullett, There are eight grand-
children and eight great grand-
children.
The funeral will be held from
the Box funeral home, High St„
on Friday, July 22, at 2 p.m. Rev.
W, R. Summerell will 'officiate
and burial will be in Maitland -
bank Cemetery.

A pretty wedding was solem-
nized at the First Presbyterian
Church, Seaforth, on Saturday,
July 16, 1960 when Marjorie Jean
Pethick and Donald Kenneth Car-
ter exchanged wedding vows in a
double -ring ceremony before the
Rev. Douglas 0. Fry, of Chester-
-dile, amid a setting of pink and
white carnations, mums and
gladioli, ferns and candelabra.
The bride is the daughter of
Mir. and Min. Ilarold Pethick of
Seaforth and the groom is the
son 'of Mr. and :(fn's, Edwin H.
Carter of Innerkip.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a wedding
gown of white pure sills organza
over taffeta. The fitted bodice
featured a portrait neckline, long
lily -point sleeves trimmed with
lace applique and seed pearls, The
full length bouffant skirt featur-
ed lace circles throughout. Her
fingertip veil of nylon tulle, edg-
ed with lace was held in place by
a tiara of seed pearls and site car-
ried a white bible crested with a

Beth MoEwiug, Blyth, and brides-
maids Mfrs. Doug Carter, Inner -

ies. Both wore corsages at red
roses. Serving were the Misses
Aileen Petrie, Gloria Boyd, Made -
lou Townsend, Gloria Carter, Er-
ma, Towneelul and Suzanne Dick.

Public Utility Commission has 1109

,Surviving are his son Gordon;

ter, 'Mrs. J, L. Kerr, Seaforth;
seven grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren. The funeral will
be held Tlturaday at 2 p.m, atthe
hone of his son. Burial will be in
Brussels Cemetery.
