Greeting the guest with Alice were her mother and her aunt, Miss McKay. The house was attractively decorated with pink and white streamers and baskets of pink and white peonies. Alice was seated in a gaily decorated chair and Miss Dorothy Jackson Presided for a short program. A quartette: Miss Wilma Jackson, Joyee Storey, Lois McLachlan and Diane Irinlayson sang two num- bers, "Some Sunday Morning" and "Whither Thou Goest", accomp- anied by Miss Marjorie Papple at the piano. Little Diane McKay then favored with a solo "Heartache" accom•1.. anied on the piano by her mother, Mrs, Lloyd Cooper conducted a "Nursery Rhyme Contest", the Miss Margaret Wood read the fo - lowing address to Alice. Dear Alice, -,We your many friends and neighbors have gath- ered hero tonight to spend a soc- ial time with you and to convey play it safe! Kites are fun, but remember these important rules -they apply to all airborne toys on a string. Never fly a kite near hydro lines. If the string is wet and touches live wires electricity could travel from the power lines down the string of your kite to you. The danger is increased if the kite has a metal frame. Never use a wire or a wire reinforced string to fly a kite. Always fly them in an open area. x.:jr '.siL,.Gw'-,1'.v .':.'I•':"' ... ....,nb . Never try to get back a kite if it is caught on any overhead wires or electrical apparatus. Better to lose your kite than risk your life or serious injury. PARENTS -Safety education begins at home. Be sure your children follow the above safety rules. This important message is being published throughout Ontario in tun endeavour to prevent a recurrence of serious accidents and power blackouts which have resulted recently through the misuse of kites. to our conuntiatity as a school girl and we have folloived You throngit the years, Now we (mine to wish you joy in yoltr tivao of happiness, We tlo not wish you to feel that our interest In your Wels we elide hero, but we time the fellowship that exists will grow With the years so that as you go. through 'life yolt will feel our sympathy in /Our clouds and sor- rows and our appreciation in you joys and sunehine, While our meeting hero tonight brings us a sense of happiness we do not forget that lifo Is real and that not enjoyment, and not sorrow is our destined end, or way; finds us farther than today.
