In spite of this increase of
almost 30% in subsidy, the tax
rate is up.
Piddle school ratepayers will
pay an all time thigh of 93,8 mills
commercial and industrial rate;

87.11 mills.
Fat' Separate school ratepayers
the rates will be 91.8 mills and
86.11 runes respectively,
The levy for education for 1960
is $56,157, an increase of $1,730.
The grant for education is $58,-

The WMS of Northside United
Church was held Tuesday even-
ing, Miss Pennell opened the
meeting. A hymn was sung fol-
lowed by prayer by Mrs, Moffat,
:Sirs, Walden presided, Citizen-
ship report was given by Mrs, 0,
Cochrane, Miss Fennell gave a
very interesting report on the
35th anniversary of Presbyterial
held in Northside United Church
in March, Mrs. W, Dundas' circle
took over the meeting opening
with a, hymn. Scripture was read
by Mrs, A, MoNichol and a pray-
er by Mrs. Wm, Bail. We were
then favored with two lovely
duets, Margaret Hilien anti Eileen
Smith, The study book was taken
by Wt's, N, Knight. The meeting
closed with the benediction,

A pretty wedding was solemniz-
ed at St. 'Phomas' A n g l i c all
Church, Seaforth, on Friday,. May
20th at 8 p,m, when Nadien Mc-
Intyre of Port Albert was united
in marriage to Reginald Chappel,
of Cromarty, The bride was given
in marriage by her uncle, Mr. T,
Dickson of Goderich, Miss Laur-
ine Rau attended the bride, while
the groom was supported by his
consul, John Varlet', The officiat-
ing minister was Rev, II. Donald-
son.
The bride wore a gown of pale
blue nylon with feather hat and
white accessories and carried -a
bouquet of pink rosebuds and
lily -of -the -valley. Miss Laurine
Rau. of Milburn, bridesmaid, wore
an identical dress to the bride
only in pink with feather hat and
white accessories and carried a
bouquet of yellow rosebuds and
lily-of_the-valley,
After the ceremony a buffet
dinner was served to about 35
];nests at the home of the groom's
grandmother, Mrs. R. Dalrymple,

On Tuesday evening last a
pleasant evening was spent at the
home of Mrs. Lyle Racho when
she was hostess at a miscellan-
eous shower in honor of Miss Na-
dien McIntyre, bride of the week.
The evening was spent to playing
euchre and crokinole, at the close
of which Nadien was presented
with some wonderful gifts. Nad-
ien thanked all tor their kindness.
A dainty lunch was served by the
hostess assisted by Miss Laurine
Rau.

not know where they will be lo-

The term is for one year, but
it could be for longer. Mr. White-
ley intends to keep his house in
Seaforth, renting it for the time
being,

Guest Speaker at W
Miss Belle Campbell of Seaforth
was the guest speaker at the Uay
meeting of the Seaforth W.I. held
last Tuesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs, Gordon Papple. Miss
Campbell chose as her topic "Why
Worry". There are many things
happening in the world today
that we common folk can do noth-
ing about so "Why Worry", Oft-
en we find that a close-up view
of things we worry about are nev-
er as bad as a long range one. We
should keep busy, probably have
a hobby and we would have no
time for worry,
Mrs. A. Crozier presided for th
,program. This was the Historical
Research meeting with the grand-
mothers as guests, An exhibit of
souvenirs and keepsakes brought
by members proved very interest-
ing. The motto "All that we send
into the lives of others comes
back into our own", was com-
mented on by Mrs. James le.
Scott.
The Tweedsmuir History Book
was on display and all members
were asked to prepare the history
of their farm if it is not already
completed. Mrs, A. Crozier gave
a very interesting history of the
Crozier farm formerly owned by
her father, the late Geo, Dale,
Miss Linda Papple favored with
two piano solos. ;lea's, Crozier
read several rules on etiquette ta-
ken from art old book which prov-
ed very interesting.
Prizes for the grandmother
with the most grandchildren went
to Mrs. J. Carter and Mrs, L Hud -
5611, for oldest grandmother, Mrs.
Jean. Dale, for the youngest
grandmother, llrs, Arnold Scott.
The courtesy remarks were ex-
pressed to the speaker and those
taking part on the program by
Mrs. Erlin Whitmore,
The president, Mrs. IIafrold Hu_
gild presided for Ole business and
expressed a welcome to all grand-
mothers present. The roll call
was answered with "Something I
learned from my grandmother",
The Members chose "Sandwiches
for all occasions" as their first
choice for the extension course
and Mocassin Making as their
second choice. The meeting closed
by singing "God Save The Queen".

Coleman, Mrs. W. Kerr, Mrs, L.
Strong, Mrs, R. Doig and the
hostess,

reen Harvey, Stratford, who sang
"God hath not promised" and
"Their sweetest Hour".

er the bride selected a ballet -
length cloud white silk chiffon
gown, fashioned with a beautiful
e collar of alencons lace, forming a
large bertha at back and re -em-
broidered in diamente and tiny
pearls, her finger-tip veil of tulle
illusion falling from a Princess
Margaret tiara, and she carried a
Icrescent bouquet of pink sensa-
tion roses and stepdianotis. Bridal
attendants, sisters of the bride,
maid of honor, Miss Jean Hyde,
Oshawa; bridesmaids, Miss Evel-
yn Hyde, Oshawa, Miss Marjorie
Hyde, Kippen, were gowned, alike
in nylon organza sea foam shade,
tiny purr sleeves and cumberbaud
of matching taffeta ending in
huge butterfly bows, with match-
ing mittens, loops of white satin
formed their headdresses, and
they carried bouquets of seafoam
blue minus with white tulle and
white satin ribbon.
Howard Stephenson, Wood-
' bridge, was his brother's grooms -
0 man, and Allan Stephenson, of
Woodbridge, and John Hyde, of
Windsor, ushered guests.
For receiving the 95 guests at
the reception at Little Inn, Bay
field, the bride's mother chose a
gown or champagne re -embroider-
ed organza with draped trim and
accessories in blue, the groom's
mother chose an ensemble of
flowerd green silk with match-
ing accessories, both wore cor-
sages of pink and white carna-
tions respectively,
Tulips, lilacs and apple blos-
soms formed an attractive floral
setting for the reception. For their
wedding trip down the east coast
of United States through moun-
tains to West Virginia, the bride
travelled in a dressmaker suit of
(lawn blue with which she wore a
corsage of white carnations tied
with silver ribbon, and accessories
in white, They will reside in Id_
de•ton, The bride is a 1950 grad-
uate of London Bible College and
1960 graduate of London Teach-
ers' :College, The groom is study -
big for the Ministry at London
Bible College. The bride•w•ili teach
at Ilde'ton commencing with the
fall term.

At an opportune time Mr. Mat-
zanlce presented Sister Mary Ril-

spoke a few words of appreciation
of her work during the opening
of Court Constantine and her co-
operation during her term of of-
fice, Sister Riley although taken
by surprise replied and thanked
the Court and Mr. Uatzanke for
the lifelong gift of great meaning
to her, Mr. Ginn also spoke and
complimented the ladies of their
Court, procedure, also on their
enthusiasm, Tie presented the
charter to Sister President Jane
Case who replied and thanked
