Funeral service was held Mon-
day afternoon, Feb. 1st from the
Ball and Match funeral home,
Clinton, for Mrs. Albert S, Pep-
per, who passed away at Scott
Memorial hospital, Seaforth Jan.
30th after a lengthy illness of
eight years. She was in her 76th
year. The Rev. Grant Mills of
Ontario Street United Ohuroh,
Clinton, offioiated, assisted by
Rev. Dr. J, Semple, Egmondville.
Interment was in Maitlandbank

29th, 1884, she was Clara Ethel
Wilson, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. W. D. Wilson, Bruce -
field, She was married on June
21st, 1911, to Albert S. Pepper and
farmed in Tuckersmith up to 12
years ago when they retired to
Egmondville. For the past two
years they resided on Princess
street, Clinton. She was a mem-
ber of Ontario Street United
•Church. Surviving are her hus-
band, Albert S. Pepper, Clinton,
and two sons, William Roger, of
Tuckersmith and Leslie Albert of
McKillop; one daughter, Mrs.
Carl (Mary Pearl) McOlincliey,
Clinton; one brother, Lorne Wil-
son, Brucefield; three sisters,
Mrs. Belle .Hamilton, Auburn;
Mrs. Selena Chapman, 'Seaforth,
Mrs. Arthur Routledge, Seaforth,
and six grandchildren,

JOHN BENNEWIES
John L. Bennewies died at his
home in Brodhagen Saturday at
the age of 78. He was born in Mc-
Killop twp. Dec. 10, 1881, a son of
the Sate Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ben-
newies; :his mother was the form-
er Wilhelmina Prueter. He has
resided in Brodhagen for the past
55 years, where he first operated
a general store and harness shop.
For the last few years, he has
had an electrical .business. On Ap-
ril 19, 1904, he married Louisa
Ahrens. He was a member of •the
Brodhagen Band for years, and a
member of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church in Brodhagen, where he
sang, in the choir. Besides his
wife, he is survived by .tour sons,
Clarence, Mitchell; Irvin, Wood-
stock; Edwin, Seaforth; Glenn, of
Windsor; four • daughters, Mrs.
Fred (Lorena) Scherbarth and
Mrs. Ernie Hartja, both of De-
troit; Mrs. Elwood (Evelyn)
Smart, Windsor, and •Mrs. Peter
(Sylvia) Kraus, Ruthven; 22
grandchildren, 15 great grand-
children and one brother, Henry,
of Mitchell. The funeral was held
on Tuesday at St. Peter's Luther-
an Church, 'Brodhagen, for ser-
vice at 2 p.m. by E. J. Fischer
and burial was in the adjoining
cemetery.
TUCKERSMITH•
The annual meeting of Turn-
er's United Church was held on
Friday, .Tan. 22 at 12,30 with a
' pot luck dinner which was en-
joyed
njoyed by all. After thedinnerJ•tev.
Ivor. Mills opened the meeting with
singing of a hymn and prayer.
Ernie Crich was appointed See.
for the meeting. The minutes
were read and adopted. The treas-
urer's report showed a substan-
tial'balance on hand. The reports
showed satisfactory ,progress
amt were unanimously adopted.
The retiring elders, Greg. McGreg-
or and Herman Mich were re-elec-
ted for a period of three years.
Stewards for three years are Mer-
vin Falconer, Ed Layton, Stanley
Johns. A committee was formed
'to look after the 100th anniver-
eary of the Church in 1962. The
following were named: Jack Tur-
ner, Howard Johns, S. H. Whit-
more, Herman Crich, Ernie Crich
and Rev. Mills.
A vote of thanks was extended
to Rev. Mills for his leadership
and spiritual guidance during the
year.
The meeting was then turned
over to the Supt, of the Sunday
School, Mr, Frank Falconer, who
conducted the election. The meet-
ing was adjourned and Rev. Mills
pronounced the Benediction.

The 1960 directory for Seaforth
features a sketch of the Shakes-
pearean Festival Theatre a,Strat.
ford on the front cover. The work
of Canadian artist Lorne Bouch-
ard, it replaces a sketch of St.
Mary's Town Hall carried on last
year's cover.
This year 1,575 of the books
will be distributed, compared to
1,565 last year.

She was the widow of John Cor-

Reeve James F. Corbett of Point
Edward, A brother, Joseph,
Kaanff, Mioh.; and a sister Mrs.
Anne Martin, Texas, Funeral ser-
vice was held Wednesday with in-
terment at Sarnia.
Mr. Geo. Hess, who recently
underwent surgery at the :Shold-
ice Clinic in Toronto is spending
a few days with his sten-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. McCioy
in ,Toronto prior toreturning
home this week.
Representatives of the local
Park Board including Geo. Park-
er, 'Bill Miekle, Wilmer Fergu-
son and Jim Taylor of the Recre-
ation Committee attended a meet-
ing in Hanover on Monday even-
ing.
The ladies of Carmel Presby-
terian Church held a quilting at
the home of Mrs, Marence Vol
land this week,

A meeting of all interested in the new
method of harvesting grain with a Hay
Baler will be held at
McGAVIN'S FARM, EQUIPMENT,

Wednesday, February 10th
starting at 2 P.M.
This is an open meeting and its purpose is to bring
together fanners who use their balers for baling
grain and those who intend to.
Mr. Ford Dickenson of Brodhagen who has con-
verted more than fifty balers to handle grain will
be present, as well as representatives of several
companies to discuss the possibilities of this method
of getting double use of hay balers.
