PRESBYTERIAN LADIES' AID
Miss Jean Scott presided at the
Feb. meeting of the Ladies' Aid
Tuesday afternoon at First Pres-
byterian Church. Miss B. Camp:
bell opened the meeting. Hymns
were chosen by Mrs, J. 'I3ill. A
lovely solo "Others' was sung by
Mrs. J. Cairns, There were 39
calls made to sick and shut-ins.
Mrs, IW. A, Wright introduced the
guest speaker, 'Mrs. H. Donaldson,:
who with her husband, Rev, H.
Donaldson, spent severed, years in
Chile, S. America, as missionar-,
les, Mrs, Donaldson gave an in-
teresting and vivid description
of the work being done there by
bhe missionaries and stressed the
importance of our daily prayers
for all missionaries who are car-
rying the Gospel to foreign lands.
Mrs. Donaldson showed many
snaps concerning their work and
displayed beautiful hand made
garments and silver Jewellery
worn by the natives there. Mrs.
D. L. Elder +moved a sincere yote
of thanks to •both.Mrs. Donaldson
and Mrs. Cairns. The meeting was
Planned by Nlre. I -I, Leslie and
Miss J. Fraser. A social time fol-
lowed and lunch was served.

road seven and a half miles east
of Walton, Saturday night were

chest and hand injuries and brok-
en left leg.Sharon Cook of Eg-

head and shoulder injuries. They
were taken to Listowel Memorial

The Feb, meeting of Group 3 of
the W. A. of Norbheide United
•Church was held at the home of
Mrs. A. Matheson with 20 Mem-
bers and 8 visitors present. Tire
meeting was opened with a poem
"Life's Lesson" by Mrs. G. Stef-
fen. The business was conducted
by the president, Mrs. W. Brad-
shaw, A message from the presi-
dent of the General W. A. was
read, urging all member's to at-
tend church at least once a day
on Sunday and to ibring your
family and also +invite friends.
Final plans were ,made for the
Valentine Dinner on Feb, 11. The
visit to the County Home later in
February was Planned in further
detail.
Mrs. M. Berger had charge of
'the remainder of the program
The singing of a hymn was fol-
lowed with prayer by Mrs. B.
•Christie, IA lovely duet "How
Great Thou Art" was sung by
Nancy and Donna Berger with
Nancy at the +piano. The scrip-
ture Psalm. 46 was read by MTS.
Berger. Glenda Matheson enter-
tained with a tap dance number.
Miss N. Taylor was guest speak-
er and took for her topic "Wo-
men" and based her remarks on
the 31st chap. of Proverbs. Mrs.
Berger moved a vote of thanks to
the speaker and all those taking
part and also to the hostess. The
lunch was served by the social
committee.

could work more closely together
for the advantage of both, M pre-

could make more, as the consum-

lower prices, Why should the

ers are wrapping it in packages

All of these would increase the

Phe annual meeting of Duff's
United Church was held on 'Tues-
day evening with a good attend-
ance. The meeting was opened
with hymn 199 "We Love T'hY
Place 0 God" with .Mrs. Harvey
Brown at the piano. "The Hymn
of Love" by J. B. P+hdlltps was
read by Rev. W. M. Thomas +fol-
lowed by prayer. Mrs. IFI. Craig
was appointed secretary for the
evening and read the minutes of
the last annual meeting. Rev.
Thomas expressed appreciation
from the session to all leaders in
the church during :the year and
of the very fine spirit +prevailing.
He spoke of the church as being
a centre of 3ellowship and love
and quoted "That is what it is
and would like to keep it that
way". There are 274 resident
members, 34 not resident, 13
Joined the :church Iby faith. There
were 10 removals, 6 burials, 7
baptisms and 3 weddings, A
prayer for the departed members
was offered by the minister. The
Insurance policy of the • oharroh
was referred to the trustees to be
looked into. As each -report was
adopted a number' was given, -
Brenda and Mary Bewley, a duet
accompanied by Carol Wilbee for
the Mtsslon Band. Baby Band,
+Carolyn, +Dianne and Clayton Fra-
ser, a trio accompanied by Mrs.
H. Travis. Y. P. „ Barbara and
Marion Turnbull, duet, accom-
panied by +1VIrs. W. Turnbull.
The Women's :Association was
complimented on their splendid
work for the year. Sunday .School,
Linda Bryans and Mary Helen
Buelhanan, duet with Pauline
Timmer 'accommpanying. C. G. I. T.
Ruth Ritchie gave an interest-
ing account of the year's activi-
ties. Mary Lou Kirkby and Anne
Achilles, duet, with Mrs. It Tra-
vis at the piano. Choir, M'rs. H.

accompanied by Mrs. H. Brown.
Two new stewards were as
pointed namely Don RMcDonald
and James +Smith , with +W. J.
Learning and Harvey Craig be-
ing re-elected. Campbell 1Yey was
appointed representative for the
Pr'es'bytery Men's Club. The Rev,
Thomas moved a vote of thanks
to all the departments . of the
church, also the caretaker and all'
who helped make the year such a
success. John Leeming also mov-
ed a vote of •thanks to Rev, and
Mrs. Thomas for their fine ser-
vices rendered. Hymn 376 "Blest
