LADIES ATD
Miss Jean Scott presided at the
Sanitary meeting of the Ladies'
Aid of First Presbyterian Church
on Tuesday afternoon. Mfrs. Wil-
fred 'Coleman opened the meeting
with a poem "The Way to a Hap-
py New Year". Atter the minutes
and correspondence were read by
the Secretary, 'Mrs. H. Whyte, the
Treasurer's report was read by
Mrs. Butt, which showed a very
successful year. A moment of sil-
ence was observed in memory of
Mrs. Agnes Scott, a past :president
and greatly respected motive work-
er for anany years. A. lovely piano
duet by Mrs. McGregor and Miss
Fraser was much enjoyed.
Rev. D. L. Elder was guest
speaker tor the :meeting, and
chose as his subject "Down at
the Fountain", bringing many
thoughts of inepiration for the
New Year. :Mrs. Margaret Messen-
ger moved a vote of thanks to
Rev. Elder and to the ladies for
their musical number_
As this is the year of the 60th
Jubilee of the Ladies' Aid, a:com-
mittee was 'formed to plan a spe-
cial ]meeting for the Pall, to cele-
brate this anniversary oocatwion.
A 'social time followed, and ,Lunch
was :served by the executive.

sor and St. Catherines. Mr. Mon-
aghan was a brother-in-law of

JOSEPH' O'CONNELL
Joseph- O'Connell died at his
tome lin Dublin on Thursday, Dec.
24th in his 84th year. He had
been a residenit of the village for
most of his life. Until his retire-
ment about three years ago he
had operated a grist mill. Mr.
O'Connell •was a member of St.
Patrick's Ronan Catholic Ohuroh,.
Dublin, and belonged' to the Holy
Name Society ,and the Altar Soci-
ety. He was a son of the late Mr:
and Mrs. Bernard O'Connell'. Sur-
viving are 'four sisters, Mrs, Ellz-
•abetlt Bruxer, 'Misses Mary, Mar-
garet and Catherine O'Connell, all
of Dublin. There are several nie-
ces and nephews.

On Tuesday, Dec. 29, Mr. and

their 50th wedding anniversary
