Mrs, Clayton Baughman, first
woman to hold public laftice In
Wallaceburg, died Saturday et
her home sUlter a lengthy illness.
'Mrs, Hanemann was a former
resident of Seaforth, and was a
•nvilliner in :early life. She was in
her 89t11 year.
She was eleotod to the Wallace -
burg Board of Education in 1936.
The 'Former Alma Reid, she was
born ,at Neustadt, and was resi-
dent of Wallaceburg Por over 50
years.
Active in patriotic and munici-
pal circles, she was Tor many
years' regent :of the 'Selkirk of
Baldoou Chapter, _Imperial Order
Daughters of the Empire, and
was a lite member of the Kent
Munioipal Chapter of the IODE.
She was for many years presi-
dent of ;the Wallaceburg Henticul-
tumal Society, the Knox Presby-
terian :Ciuulroh Ladies Aid, and
was a member of the Kent advis-
ory board of .the CNIB and :of the
Navy League, She was a Member
of Knox CUhuroh.
In later years she was honored
for her work with the Red Cross
and `Navy League by the SOi,>E
chapters here, with a scholarship
in' her name for Wallaceburg Iain_
triot High Seheol.
She was the mast member of her
family, and is survived by nieces

burg, .Miss Hazel Reid :and nephew
Mr. Dalton Reid, Seaflorth. Ser-
vice was held Tuesday conducted
by ,the Rev. R. D. A. Currie, :of
Knox Church, Wellacebitrg. Bur-
ial was in Riverview •Cemetery,
Wallaceburg.

Mrs. Bell sang a few Christmas
songs. A social hour followed the
meeting with the :exchange of

games. Previous to the meeting
we all :enjoyed a pot :nick supper
which was enmoyed by all. Mrs.
Hudson extended a vote ,of thanks
to our hostess for an enjoyable
evening.

The funeral of Mrs, James Rich-
inond, a life-long resident :of Mb1'-
ris twp. who died Thursday at the
home of her daughter, ,'Mrs, Har-
old France near Blnevale, was
held Saturday at the home .of per
son, Miller Richmond. Rev. E.
iviieLagan, minister 'of Blyth ting-
ed. Church, conducted the Service,
Mrs. ¶Riobnlond was in her 84th
year and had been in :failing
health far :several years. She was
a 'daughter of :the late Ann Elliott
and Jahn Millar. Following bier
marriage to James Richmond 64
years ago, :the couple took uP
farming on the 9th eon. of Morris,
where they lived until a few
years ago when they moved to the
home of their :daughter. Mrs,
Richmond was a member ,of Blyth
linked Church, a life member of
the WMS. Surviving are her hus-
band; one son :Miller Richmond,
Morris, and three daughters,
Mrs, David (Annie) Craig, Mor-
ris;
orris; Mrs, Russell (Stella) Ward-
en, Staffa; Mrs. Harold (Jessie)
France, Bluevsle; and 12 guand-
ohildren 'and two ,great gaandehil-
dren.

On Nov. 30th 20 adults of the
Fireside Farm Forum met at the
home of Hugh Flynn. Topic was
farmers 'in the Market Place. In
our :community farmers .could
have most of their liroduce hand-

but many do not avail themselves
