Ladies Lawn Bowling Club bowl
during the 'summer menthe on

ern Ontario. Bridge and • euchre
are enjoyed at •mmothiy Parties
for the balance of the Year, this
snakes a complete round of .pleas-+
ant activities. The Sewn(' of these
card parties was held at••the Mime
of Airs. B. l+, Ohristier on Mon-
day evening when Dight 'tables
were at play. Prizes donated by
Mies Janet C1uft, and Miss Rena
Fennell were won by Mrs, hl, C.
Chamberlain and Mts. W. Dun-
das. The hostess , wee assisted)
with the lunch by ;MTS, J. Long -
staff, Mrs, D. Smith, Mre. A. Sta-
cey -and MTS. Art Wright. The
January panty will be -held at the
home of +Mi+s. P. L. Brady. The
Club decided to affiliate with the
Provincial. Lawn. Bowling Associ-
ation in 1960. Mrs, H. Travis, ex-
pressed thanks to Mrs. Christie,
the lunch oomanittee and donors
et plizee for a most enjoyable

PLOWING BEE
The spirit of neighbourliness
was very evident in the Waft
area this :week and especially
felt by Jack (Butson. Jack bought
the 100 acre farm ,f Harold Cole-
man last week and because of the
lateness of the season and 4•nele-
ment weather his neighbours or-
ganized a "bee" and were able to
plow 35 acres between rains.The
plowmen included Arthur Swale;
Ross Smale, Alf Ross Jos, George
Kerslake, Alf Ross Sr„ Bruce
Armstrong, Leslie Butson and
Bill Butson.
MRS. ROBERT LINDSAY
Mrs. Robert (Cecilia) Lindsay,
widow of the late Bert Lindsay
passed away in her 'SOth year in
Swift 'Current, Sask., Nov. 10+th.
Mrs, Lindsay, is survived by six
children all living lin the West,
and 15 gtandohildren, Mrs. Lind-
say, and the late AMr, Lindsay
were both born in Hallett Town-
ship and left for Killarney, !Mau.
nearly 60 years .ago..Mr, and Mrs.
Lindsay farmed extensively for
many, many -,years,' through good
times and bad. Mrs. Lindsay is
:survived _by two slaters, ISIS, AAL
Lindsay, now residing, in Flor-
ence, Ont., ,and Mrs. -Elizabeth
Hili, 'residing in London.

We were enjoyably entertained
by Mrs. •Meeuwiese, who spoke

leaving everyone hoping -that she
would continue some other time.

The funeral service of Sidney
George 'Roberts, who died in
Stratford General Hospital Sat-
urday, was held at the Box fun-
eral home here at 2 p.m. Mendel'.
Rev. J. C. Brinton of Northside
United Ohuroh officiated and bur-
tat was in 'M'aetiandbank Ceme•
tery. Mr: Roberta was born in
Liverpool 51 years ago and came
to Canada in 1923 +tib reside in
Tucleersmtith +twp, He has resided
in Seaforth for the .past three
years. Surviving are This mother,
Mrs A. Roberts, Liverpool; --one
sister, Airs. Sarah 'Dean, and one
brother, Edward, Roberts, both of
Liverpool.

Missionary Rally
Thursday Evening
A Missionary Rally of wide in-
terest will be held in Blyth Unit-
ed' Church on Thursday evening,
Nov. 19th at 7.30 p.m. This event
is sponsored by Huron Presbyter-
ialW,M:S. and members front all
auxiliaries in Huron are 'invited
and expected to attend, 'Ilbe spe-
cial Speaker will be. Miss F+ranees
't, Walbridge of Angela, Africa,
Miss Walbridge is a vivacious
speaker who hos' much to tell of
her work as .prinoipal of She Vo-
cational School for girls and of
the vocational short .courses and
Damps for women and •girls eon,
ducted in the village of the area.
One of :her special concerns de
Christian literature of all kinds
and literary work. This year,
church groups of all ages are
etudytng Africa. This Rally pro-
vides a wonderful opportunity
for the people of Huron to hear
a missionary ion active service In
Africa. The Wingham C.G.I.T.
choir will provide special music.

_CANOPY TAKEN DOWN
' The large canopy in front at
the former Regent Theatre on.Main street was removed this
week as -part of the job of conver-
tingthe building into stores and
apartments. The sheet 'metal dis-
play boards that carried the
names of the shows and aotors
fringed with neon lights was
cleared away with sledge ham-
mera, leaving the supporting
Hhree-sided welded steel frame.

field secretary for the Intercol-
legiate Association for the .study
of the aloobol problem, and lect-
urer at colleges through 'Canada
and the United 'States. Tie ad-
dressed the World Congress on
the Alcohol Problem which con-
vened in the University of Istan-
bul, Turkey.

initiated into the "Christian
Girls In. Training". The leader,
Miss Joyce Jewitt capably led the
girls through ;the ceremony with
each gird taking an...active pant.
The girls • attending were -Misses
Mary and Margaret MacGregor,
Mary Buchanan, Glenyce Jewitt,
Janice Jewitt and Joyce Brown.
The girls, -who looked lovely in
the CGIT uniforms were congrat-
ulated by Rev. Funge, with spe-
cial thanks to Mies J. Jewitt who
had taken such au interest as
leader.
After 'initiation, ,the girls serv-
ed a beautiful lunch at which
Rev. Funge offered blessing, Mrs.
Brown expressed a vote of thanks
to the leader and girls and felt
the WSIS should feel pond of the
CGIT as a branch of .their society,

On Wednesday afternoon Mrs.
George Mclllwain presided over
the Constance W. A. in the ab-
sence of the Pres„ Mrs. Lawson,
