It is possible that the introduc-
tion of the deficiency payment
.plan frightened sons pooclucei's
into 'disposing of their old liens
before the first of October and
,this may have had something 10
do With'the ,apparent ehon•tage of
Marjorie 'took the topic dreading the A Large eggs which resulted
in the sharp increase in the ,mice
,over ,the past few weeks but .i't
didn't last long. And •I hope the
producers realize that the amount
above the floor wddl now be used
to bring up the average price if
eggs drop below for some period
et the Year.
This reduced productien that
raised the price was soon oven' -
come by :the importation of eggs
from the United States. We were
told by the President sof the Ont-
ario Poultry producers that nine
car loads' of eggs were brought in
from :the U.S. two weeks ago and
you know what happened to the
prise.
Under the 'offer to pairehase
plan this 'could, easily have been
overcome by introducing the
:port system 'as ds being used on
turkeys but since the 'government
introduced the deficiency' pay-
ment
ayment plan.etating that farm pro-
ducts must find their 'own level
on the open -market they can
hardly call it is free market if
they ban imports.
Reducing'production canonly
be effeotive in raising the price
en products being sold below the
world 'market. This I believe was
•the case in the :toli'aeoo industry
and the marketing plan has been
oifective In raising their price.
bn the ease of eggs or pork re-
ducing ,production will not effec-
tively inorease .price in Canada
unless imports are excluded. The
government is justified un doing
;this ,under the golfer to burchase
Price support but dt isn't under
deficiency payment plan. It seems
to me that the fernier gives the
tamer guarantee 'of 0 minimum
return for his product while the
latter guarantees only the maxi-
mum. Should the 'farmer happen
to get a 'greater !return than the
support price under the deficiency

Re Dog Proclamation
In view of the disregard by the general
public of the recent proclamation
issued by the Town Council re the
confinement of dogs, and the fact that
they are not to run at large at any
time, the Council feels that charges
must be laid under this By-law.:
Any owner or harborer of a dog who
allows it to run at large can be sum-
moned into court. The fine in a case of
this kind could be $50.00 and costs.
The Council and myself would ask all
citizens concerned to comply with the
laws and avoid the consequence's.
