The Barbara Kirkman will .serve the Men's Club supper in October. Mrs, T. E. Patterson conducted the devotional part. Harvest Home thanksgiving fes- tival was observed at St, Peter's Lutheran Church Hero on Sunday. ,The chancel was •beautifnily deo- mated for the occasion with flow- ers, fruit, vegetables and grain, and ten children of the kinder- garten class of the Sunday school carried grain, apples, potatoes, grapes and flowers to the 0411ee1 of the church. The choir sang se- veral anthems. TWO chrysanthe- mum plants adorned the altar of the church hi memory of Edward Br'odhagen, who passed away one year ago. They were placed by his wife and family. Also baskets of flowers in the chancel from the funeral of Mrs. August Jung, which was held last Tuesday, On Tuesday evening the Sun- day school teachers held a meet- ing beginning with a supper giv- ett by members of the Stewards of the Christian Home (married couples). PASTURE COMPETITIO2 Alvin Betties of r.r, 2 Bayfield is the winner of the 1959 Huron county pasture competition. Ac- cording to Judge Murray Roy of Londesboro, last year's winner of the County Competition who went, on to win the Zone Compe- tition, and planed third in the provincial competition, there was certainly spine good pasture in Harron. He also stated there were good pasture managers, Alvin Betties had 22 acres of his 100 arable acres in pasture, and had a car'rying capacity of 44 animal units or 2 animal units per acre, In second place was Robert Alien of Brucefieid, a new entry in the competition, Bob had a carrying capacity of 1.72 ani- mal units per acre on the second inspection.
