Mr. and Mrs. Verne Dale and Muriel visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Webster of St. Helens. Mr, and Mrs. Barden Brown, Joyce and Elaine spent Sunday and Monday at Bracebridge and Barrie; enroute home Joyce re- mained in Hanover for holidays. Master Larry Jewitt, son of Mr, and Mrs, Wm. Jewitt had the misfortune to be kicked in the face by a cow Monday and al- though improved is still a pa- tient in Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth. We were sorry to learn that Mr. Harvey Taylor was taken to Clinton Hospital Monday after- noon but trouble came double when his song Mr. Lawrence Tay- lor. was operated on Tuesday for appendicitis and landed in the same room with his father. Doig was hostess on Wednesday last to her friends who called to congratulate her on her 74th birthday. In the even- ing euchre was played, at the conclusion of which Mrs. Doig served a dainty lunch. Mrs. Herb. Coombs on behalf of the neigh- bours presented Mrs. Doig with a pair of blankets and two door rugs, Mrs. Moorehead of Toronto spent last Wednesday with her mother, Mrs. Doig. Mr. Andrew McLachlan and Mr. and Mrs. Carter Kerslake of Cromarty visited with Mr. and Mrs: John McLachlan. Mrs, Ted Brown and Mrs.. Simpson are still patients at the Seaforth hospital. KIPPEN NIrs. Maude IIedden spent Sun- day in Kippen at the home of Town of Seaforth Re DogProclamat' 1011 In view of the disregard by the general public of the recent proclamation issued by the Town Council re the confinement of dogs, and the fact that they are not to run at large at any time, the Council feels that charges must be laid under this By-law. Any owner or harborer of a dog who allows it to run at large can be sum- moned into court. The fine in a case of this kind . could be $50.00 and costs. The Council and myself would ask all citizens concerned to comply with the laws and avoid the consequences. B. F. Christie Mayor her sister ...and brotheran law, Mr. and Mrs. Kerr. T$'OMAS' W.A, , The September meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Thom- as' Church was held in the par- ish hall on Tuesday, Sept, 1. Mrs. G. McGavin presided and welcomed. Rev. Donaldson and Mrs. Donaldson to the Auxiliary. Our new rector then led. the Litany and offered prayers tor the parish and the sick. Mrs. Mc. Gavin offered a prayer tor the Auxiliary and led in the mem- bers' and Lord's prayer which. were repeated in unison. Mr. Donaldson read a' chapter of the study book "He Cares," entitled "Housing for the Aged," It was very interesting. The roll pall and minutes were given by the new secretary, '88re, Raymond Nett. Plans for the birthday meeting in November were defer- red ,to next month when it ie. hoped a larger number 'of mem- bers will be present. The next meeting will be held on the ev- ening of .Oct, 6 at 8 p.m, in the parish hall. The collection and talent money were received and dedicated. Mrs, MOGavin closed the meeting with the benediction. Tho members were then invited to the rectory by Rev. and Mrs, Donaldson for a social cup of tea, WA. GROUP MEETS 'Meeting of Group Four of Northside WA. was held at the home of Mrs, Alvin Riley on Sept. 1, with eleven members and three visitors present. Mrs, Hudson was in charge of the'de. votional part, the theme of which was ICindness, Roll call was an- swered by members telling where they epent their holidays. White Elephant gifts were sold, A bake and homemade candy Sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the former Daly Garage at 8 PM, Mrs. Corlett was in charge 'of the program. A very interesting talk on Holland was .given by Mrs, Van Rooijen, Mrs. Corlett thanked the speaker, Refresh- ments were served and the host- ess was blanked for her hospital- ity. CROP .REPORT White bean .harvest in the County has started with: yields lower than ,usual clue to the blight. Resent wet weather has hampemed the completion of grain harvest and curing of sec- ond cut hay in some ,parts of the County. Prospects for high yields .of grain corn are very good. JAMBS G. SWELL James Gordon Snell, 16, grand- son of Mr. and Mrs. William Plumsteel, Clinton, died at his. home, 569 Coley Drive, Oakridge Acres, London, on Monday. Ile was a son of Rev. and Mrs. H. J. Snell. The funeral service will be at 2.30 p.m. Thursday at A•rd- aven funeral chapel, London, with burial in Ball's Cemetery, Clinton.
