• We,areenow•111 the midst of the
holiday season with more cars
than ever before, on our high-
ways, Accidents are just ,that
much more likely, to ltalrpen•
An interesting item came to
my desk 'tltie week. One well
known auto insurance company
has been giving extra medical
payment benetlts to those who
are total abstainers. This comp-
any is now willitgto give double
the extra coverage and again at
no increase in .premium if you.
sign the total abstinenee than.
After two years of experience
the company has found that non-
drinkingdrivers have 'fewer ac-
cidents and they are less serious
accidents, therefore more cover-
age can be given at no extra cost.
We often complain about the
high cost of auto insurance bet
let us remember it is the driver
who sets the rate. Have fewer
and less costly accidents and the
Department of Insurance will
see to it that the rates are reduc-
ed accordingly.
At a meeting of farmers affect-
ed by the hydro line to be bunt
from Seaforth to Clinton it was
agreed that there was •a deprecia-
tion of re -sale value when a hy-
dro line Drosses a farm, For this
reason several refused to sign
the contract offered by Hydro.
