Welcome words at meal -time!
Usually a phone call or two among the neigh-
bours rounds them up.
How many cold meals and frayed tempers and
moments of uneasiness have you been spared be-
cause your telephone was handy ?... How many
"man -hunts" when small ones have wandered off?
The telephone helps make a neighbourly commu-
nity—helps us all to live more securely, to get more
things done, more easily.
Yes, your telephone is a wonderfully low-cost,
wonderfully efficient servant.

Re Dog Proclamation
In view of the disregard by the general
public of the recent proclamation
issued by the Town Council re the
confinement of dogs, and the fact that
they are not to run at large at any
time, the Council feels that charges
must be laid under this By-law.
Any owner or harborer of a dog who
allows it to run at large can be sum-
moned into court. The fine in a case of
this kind could be $50.00 and costs.
The Council and myself would ask all
citizens concerned to comply with the
laws and avoid the consequences.

To the Christian the ari'iial oR
spring becomes tt very intimate
pieture of the RResurrectiou
Faith,' For if the Haid £rosea
earth of winter esu hold promise
of dalieate spring flowers and
warm summer days; if God eau
work this miracle then It becomes
less difficult tv nndorstand how
God can take our cold selfish hi.
anon hearts and transform them
with the warm pulsings of heav-
en. It becomes leas dlffieult to un.
derstand that though man's world
,may seem to be held in the grip
of an unfriendly enemy God's
good time will come when it will
be released and flooded with the
miracle of His loving purpose,
In spring we always seem to.
stand on ,the brink of discovery
and yet it is not the discovery of
the `unknown'. Our hearts staid.
Pate with delight what we know.
is coming; we even make our se-
cret plans in anticipation of the.
warm summer days which we Reel
certain will be here; we are al-
ready eager with the enjoyment
of all the good things summer
Mikis in stare.
And so in our . Resurrection
Faith God's purpose in Christ be-
comes Imoie than the promise of
heavenly things, it becomes. their
very (presence. God's Purpose ds
not some dar-off Divine event
towards which we look with
longing, it becomes the contem-
porary purpose within human hi,
stem” and human life today, We
do not watch and wait for it
without faith; we eagerly antici-
pate its goming and plan our
lives as if it were •already here.
The God who is able to bring
to the service of His .Purpose all
the myriads of forces iuyolved 1n
the change from winter to sum-
mer is quite capable of bringing
to the service of His Purpose all
the myriads of 'human elements'
involved in the change from a
world dominated by man to a
world ruled by His Christ. Chris-
tians are people who should be
living .in eager anticipation of
this ccrtaln .change. This is our
Resurrection Faith, The Faith
which the world today needs so
desperately.
In the middle of winter all the
forces of nature seemed to be
denying the possibility of sum-
mer, and yet once again it is
here. And so in our world today
all the 'forces of the human heart
anti the human mind seem tb be
denying the possibility of Christ's
Kingdom and yet through Him
we are not only certain of its com-
ing, we are certain -of its pres-
ence.
We are living today in a veri-
table winter of denying. Political-
ly, our world denies the Brother-
hood of man; in economics our
world denies the equality of man
and substitutes the, service of
self for the service of God; mor-
ally our world abandons the res-
ponsibility of the individual for
the moral complacency of the
mob; intellectually our world ex-
changes the Light of Reason for
the statistics of expediency; aes-
thetically our world forsakes the
beautiful for the exciting; spirit-
ually our world wanders in a fog
of superstition and the black ma-
gic of chance. Not only does
our world deny God the right to
rule, It even denies Him the right
to be. Not only does it deny God
His right of possession, but tran-
sfers His title to itself. And these
cold winter winds of denial have
chilled our world with joyless
hope of survival, frozen over the
well -springs of Faith and left the
human soul stranded on the
white wastelands with little eag-
erness for summer to come.
Yet the Christian knows that
God can change all this. Trans -
farm and revitalize human hist-
ory and human hearts; melt the
snows of human indifference and
selfishness; thaw out the soil of
our cold calculated greed and lust
to let the flowers grow. He will
send down the rain and sun and
touch the world 'with the miracle
of His life-giving until man, lost
in eager anticipation of Christ's
world that is to be, will forget
that it pis not here and plan his
life as if it were.
