Reeve Ivan Forsyth was given an acclamationfor reeve. There was a good attendance,at the meeting. Reeve Forsyth in his. address reviewed the problem of unpaid taxes whlch is a problem. in every nzunici'pality. He pointedout that the banzk loan of $35,000 was just a little more than the total of $33,500 in unpaid taxes. Reeve Forsyth said $19,000 in school funds had :been converted to ‘44% bonds during the year and would yield nearly $300 more^ in interest, The nominations were as follow: For Reeve: 'Ivan Forsyth -4S •Gemmell, Charles Eyre. A. Ryan, Herbert Williamson. The meet- ing was oven• by 3.30 p.m. There were no arguments and no other candidates nominated. Township Clerk, J. M. 'Eckert presided. ROWLAND—SAYAUQ-•D A double -ring ceremony was performed in Wesley United Church, London, when Sandra, elder •daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Savauge, became the bride of Fergus J. Thomas Kenney occurred at the residence of 'his, niece, Mrs. Norman Sohade, Lot 27, Con. 12, :McKillop two., Thurs.- day. hursday. He had been in failing health for the past seven months and became .seriously 211 about two weeks ago. Mr. Kenney was the son of the late Mr, and Mrs. Johnston Kenney of FIallville, Ont. Coming to Molti'llop as a young boy, he received his 'early education at S.S. 7 in .the town- ship. He was in his .87th year, and had farmed in MoKillop for, most of his life. He was a mem- ber of Wanton United Church, Surviving is a brother, Joseph J. Kenney, Salmon, B.C., and a niece, .Mrs. Not -man Schad°, with whom he resided for a number of years. The funeral was held on Oaturday from the G. A. Whitney funeral home, Rev. M. Thomas of Walton United Church offioia- ted. ;Burial was in Brussels cem- etery. KISTNI]R :Charles William Kistner of Dublin died at his home on Sun- day morning after a brief dd1•ness in his 65th year. Born 'in Monk - ton, he was the son of the late John Kistner and Augusta :Scher berth. For the past 28 years Ile farmed and dredged in Logan twp. He moved to Dublin in the fall of 1957 when his son Frank took over the farm. He was mar- ried do 1928 to Mary Kenny, they celebrated their 30th wedding an- niversary nniversary .in October of this year at his former home. A veteran of the 'first world war he served overseas with the 110th battalion. He is survived by hia wife, one son Frank, three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Murphy, of Pert Colborne; Mrs. Eugene (Then: esa) Bannon, Gadshidl; Dianne at home; four brothers, Dan of Stetter, Alberta; John of Monk - ton; Fred of Brodhagen; Gordon of Bornholm; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Lena) Bauer of Bornholm. A faithful ,member of St. Pat- rick's Parish, Dublin, the Altar Society and League ,of the 'Sacred Heart. The funeral is being held on Wednesday from St. Patrick's Church, Dublin, where High Mass will be sung at 9:30. Inter- ment will take. place in the Parish Cemetery. A program: prepared by the Mie - aforth S17AFORT I, ONTARIO, THURSDAY, :JANTTARY 1, U159 Rabid Fox Shot Near Seaforth An apparently rebid fox was shot in the barn of Gordon Mc- Kenzie, lot 21, cont 3, MoKijlop, about' 214" miles northeast of Sea - forth; on. Sunday, When Ma=, Mc- Kenzie went up in the barn to put down feed for thecattle he sane the fox run in behind some old machinery. It watched him while lze plugged the hole do the barn door where it got in, and, It chewed on the wooden spokes of an implement 'wheel. He then called a neighbor, Mae'Scott, who brought :a'rifle and shot the fox, Dr. MacLennan, of the Health of Animals Branoh, was notified. The MOKonsies say that there are many foxes in the vicinity; but this, is the first time they have seen one near the farm buildings. Being close to the "mountain"; the area is a favor- ite spot for skiing parties and it is felt that there is a very' real danger at this time. HENSALL . ' Roy Wilfred Stowell 'Funeral services were held re- cently in the Stettler United Church for Roy Wilfred Stowell, 63, a former pioneer banker in Western Canada. Rev. A. E. Mor- rison •officiated and burial was iu 'Stettler Lake View 'Cemetery. Mr. Stettler was born in Addi- son, 'Ont., and started his bank- ing career with the Royal Bank of Canada in Ontario in 1906. He moved to Saskatchewan when branches of the bands were first opened in that province. Mr. Stowell returned to Ontario where in 1915 he married the former Margaret Alice Drysdale, sister of the late G. M. Drysdale' of Hensall. In 1919 he moved to Alberta and served in branches of the Royal Bank of . Munson, Erskine .and Wig Valley. He re- tired in 1950. Flonorary 'pallbearers wore 3. F, McQuarrde, S. A. 'Broderick, A. E. The CGLT and the WTI held their annual vesper service in the auditorium of Duff's' United Church on :Sunday evening. The choir ''oft was ,beautifully decor- ated with rows of lighted candles and evergreen bows interspersed wits colored lights. 'A Christmas tree formed the setting for the front of the church. The choir entered the church singing "0 Come all ye -Faithful" with Miss Audrey Ilaelewellat the organ, -Miss Mona Clarke was in charge of the service which opened with the call to worship and hymn "0 Little T'ow'n of Bethlehem" fol. lowed by the scripture reacting. The anthem "I Beard the Bells" was sung by the choir. Miss Don- na Smith -was the first candle lighter. This was followed by prayer and hymn ,57 "Gentle Mary laid her 'Child". ,Rose Eva Buuek, Larry Kistner and Bar- bara Floegy of Brodhagen sang "Bring a Torah" under the ,direc- tion of Miss Audrey Hackwell. The offering was received 'by Don Achilles, Herb Kirkby and Neil HcGavin. The story "The Shepherd who didn't go" was told by Victor ,Uhler.
