ROWCLIFFE BARN BURNED IN TUCKERSMITH Livestock, grain and implements were lost when fire destroyed a large frame barn south of Clinton on No. 4 Highway Sunday night. Hundreds of persons who saw the fire from miles away drove to the scene thinking it was at the R.C.A. F. station across the road from the the barn, owned by Carman Row- cliffe, of ,Seaforth. Before police arrived an estimat- ed thousand cars and three large London -bound buses were snarled in a traffic jam along the highway. Neighbors said' there was no sign of fire at 5:35 pan., but at 8:45 the barn was blazing. furiously.' In it were a few pigs, a dog and some cats, and about 50 chickens, all of which were burned to death. Mr, Rowcliffe said he had no idea what could have started the blaze. Clinton ,and Tuckersmith fire bri- gades, with the R.C.A.F. station fire truck and ambulance, were brought to the fire but could do little be- cause of shortage of water. ST.
