Services at St. Peter's Lutheran
Church on Sunday were conducted
by members of the Lutheran League
in the absence of the pastor, who is
on holidays. Those taking part were
Edgar Elligson, Rose Siemon, Jo-
anne Beuermann, Mrs. Joyce Fisher,
Mr, Charles Koons of Parksville,
West Virginia, spoke on Evangelism
and Miss Heidi Buri and Miss
Bracker sang a duet assisted by Cal-
vin Diegel at the organ.
On Sunday, Aug'. 31, Cemetery
Decoration Service will be held at
St. Peter's Lutheran Church begin-
ning at 3 o'clock p.m. Pastor Wm.
Giller of Guelph will be the guest
speaker.
The Caravaners of the Luther
League of America spent three days
last week with the young people at
our church in order to help with any
problems and inspire them to
greater efforts in the work of the
Lord, The program included fellow-
ship, 'supper, workshop, presenta-
tions of various ' kinds, discussion
and recitation. There was a good at-
tendance,

The Kippers East W. 1. niet at the
home of Mrs. Robert Peck on Aug-
ust 1.3 with a good attendance. Mrs.
E, McBride was co -hostess. The
President, Mrs. E. Whitehouse, pre-
sided. Meeting opened with the Ode
and the Mary Stewart Collect and
Lord's Prayer. Two verses of 0
Canada were sung. The minutes of
last meeting were read and adopted.
Roll call, a Form of Politeness I
admire, was well responded to. It
was moved that we send $10 to the
children's Shelter at Goderich in an-
swer to a plea for clothing. A thank
you card was read from Mrs, W.
Kyle for expressions of sympathy,
also one from Miss Helen Turner
for gift received. Miss June 11cICay
favored with two delightful instru-
mentals. The motto, no nation can
rise higher that the character of its
people, was very ably given by Mrs,
R. Love. Current Events were given
by Mrs. E. Jarrett, The guest speak-
er. Rev. W. J. Rogers of Hensall
gave a very inspiring address on
Citizenship and Democracy. A geo-
graphy match was enjoyed with
Mrs. H. Caldwell and .Mrs. E. Jar-
rott as captains. the winning side
was Mrs. Jarrott's. A vote of thanks
to the hostess was given by Mrs. - J.
McLellan. God Save the Queen was
sung. A delicious lunch was served
by the hostess and committee.

The Fire Side Farm Forum held
their annual picnic at Seaforth
Lions Park on Tuesday, Aug, 10. A
good time was had by all. The races
were as follows; Girls 5 and under,

to 10, Elda Riley, Marjorie Hog-
gart; boys 7 to 10, John Hoggart,
Joseph Babcock; girls 10 to 14,
