Master Bryan MacLean of Exeter spent the past week with his grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Mac- Lean. Mrs. Isomer Tinsley was taken to Victoria Hospital, London, where she received treatment in the inter- ests of her health. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Richardson and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Oesch spent the weekend on a motor trip to Points in Northern Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koehler and children of Toronto visited during the past week with the former•'s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Koehler. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McMurtrie and daughter of Toronto spent the weekend with the former's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John McMurtrie and Mk'. Hugh Me- Mprtrie, Mr. John MacGregor and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. MacLean of Exeter spent the past week at New Liskeard, Mr. and Mrs. John Alexander spent the weekend with relatives in London. 'Miss Dorothy Parker of Chisel- hurst spent the past week with her grandmother, Mrs, Edna Corbett. Mr. and Mrs, Bert Horton and family spent the holiday weekend with relatives at Newmarket. Mrs. Hugh MeiMurtrie recently underwent an operation in Victoria. Hospital, London. Her many friends wish her a speedy recovery. Mr, and Mrs. Harold Seruton and family of Port Dover spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Peter McNaughton and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Shaddick and Mr. Thos. Alf Scholl spent a few days this week holidaying at ]Manitoulin Island. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker, Dor- othy and Geraldine spent the week- end holidaying at points in Ngsth- ern Ontario, Mrs. Jack Peebles and babe of London visited during the past week with her another, Mrs. Letitia Sang- ster. Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Lee spent the weekend with relatives at Owen Sound, 1•irs. Catharine Devlin of London visited recently with Mrs. Annie Hudson. McKILLOP A highly esteemed resident of the community and former township councillor in the person ,of Joseph O'Rourke passed away at his home on lot 4, con. 6, IsicKilsop twp., on Friday evening, July 25, in his 78th year, Rev. Dr, Foulkes sang requiem Mass on Monday morning and inter- ment was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Dublin. Present in the sanctuary were Rev, Fr, Joseph O'Rourke, cousin of the deceased, Rev. Fr. F. Moylan, S.F.M., Rev. Fr. A. Looby, C.S.B. Mr, O'Rourke was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church, Dublin. and of the Holy Name So- ciety. The deceased was the last sur- viving member of the family of the pioneer settlers, Thomas O'Rourke and Ann Hughes. He was born on the same farm where he lived•all his life. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Miss Laura Leiper. Mrs. K. M'cVittie gave the treasurer's report. The following program was given by the children, A solo, "In the Garden" by Myrtle Knox. The Mis- sion Band treasurer's report by Mary Lou Roe. who stated that total of 59,36 had been collected at the three public schools. The BabY Band collection for the meeting amounted to 35.65 and the Mite Box collection was 36.34. A piano solo, Gloria Allen; story, Marjorie Mc - Ewing; duet in English and Dutch, Reiki and Wilhemina Hyink. Child- ren's stories by Mrs. Edwin Wood; piano solo, Jenny Morue; solo. Mlel- vyn Knox. While the Study Book chapter was being given by Mrs. John McEwing, Mrs. Tom Allen showed the children slides •ef "Kim - bo, the African girl". She also show. ed slides to the whole gathering. Graduation Diplomas were given to 8 of the Baby Band members, and 7 babies received membership in the Baby Band. The meeting closed with the hymn, "Stand Up For Jesus", and the Baby Band prayer. The Ladies' Aid then met. Mrs, Ward Knox, vice-president, conduct- ed the business session. It was de- cided to have the painter choose suitable colours for painting the outside of the church. The Ladies' Aid will give $25.00 to the Y. P. Class towards paying for tables and chairs for the primary class. WINTHROP Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald and Mary of Trenton spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Alexander. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Davidson and family of Stratford spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph David- son. Miss Agnes Broadfoot, London, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McClure. Miss Barbara Trewartha had an appendix operation in Scott Mem- orial Hospital last week. Mrs. Jordan, who has been visit- ing her brother, Mr. Theron Bettles and Mrs. Betties and relatives in Goderich, has returned to her home in Vancouver. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McClure, Mr. John McClure and Ethel and Miss Agnes B. Broadfoot ap•ent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Taylor, Staffa. Mrs, Elizabeth MicKay, Toronto, and Miss Jennie Alexander, Sea - forth, visited with Mr. and Mrs, W. G. McSpadden, Mr, and Mrs. W. E. Hawley have returned home from visiting relal- tives in Napanee. KIPPEN Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dickert were recent guests of the fernier's brothers in Clifford. Mr. and Mrs. James Durant and son accompanied by his mother of Montreal, are the guests of Mr. and Mme, Wm. Caldwell and family. Mr. Norman Long spent a pleas- ant day in Southampton on Satur- day returning on Sunday.
