A social evening was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs, Chris W.
Leonhardt for Miss Velma - Pom-
renke and Mrs, Darrell Adams (Bet-
ty Jean Hinz) two valuable mem-
bers of St. Peter's Lutheran Church
choir. During• the evening games
were played and a contest was put
on by Mfrs. Ralph Fischer and Miss
Donna Mae Smith. itIiss Smith read
an address to the guests of honour
and Miss Pomrenki was .presented
with a desk lamp and Mrs. Adams
with a table lamp. Miss Pomrenki,
who has taught school here for two
year's is leaving to train at Waterloo
College to be a deaconess.

Murray Reunion Held •
At Bayfield
On July 19th over sixty descend-
ants of the Murray family gathered
at Jowett's Grove, Bayfield, for
their annual picnic. They came from
Toronto. London, Detroit, Flint, Ed-
monton, Prince Edward Island, Ex-
eter, Seaforth and Varna. The
weather being fine a very pleasant
afternoon was spent in renewing
old acquaintances. Following the
supper it was decided to hold the
picnic at Bayfield, on the 3rd Sat-
urday in July, 1953, with Gordon
Saunders, Presidc✓nt. and Mr. andMrs, Robt. Reid as Secretary and
Treasurer. Over one hundred years
ago Mr. and Mrs. Angus Murray Sr.
came from Scotland and settled on
the Goshen Line, Stanley. They had
a family of two sons: William and
Angus, and four daughters: (Jane)
Mrs. Geo, Saunders; (Annie) Ml's.
Andrew Reid, (Mary) Mrs. Wm.
Palmer: and (Margaret) Mrs. Rev.
Roderick Murray, all of whom aie
deceased except Rev. Roderick and
Mrs. Murray of Dowagiae, Mich.,
and Mrs. Angus Murray of Exeter.
Mrs. Murray being the oldest per-
son at the picnic, having celebrated
her ninetieth birthday on June 22
was given special horror, being pre-
sented by 'her friends with a two-
storey birthday cake, a beautiful
orchid corsage and a woollen
sweater. Mrs: Murray expressed her
pleasure and gratitude for the kind-
ness of her friends. Mrs. Murray is
quite active for her years. She was
horn in Stephen- twp.. June 22,
1862, the daughter of William and
Esther Stephens, later moving with
her parents to Stanley where in
1879 she was united in marriage to
Angus Murray. They farmed on the
Bluewater Highway', later moving to
Tuckersmith where they resided till
retiring. in Exeter in 1928, where
Mr. Murray passed away in 1929.
They have a family, of two daurht-
ers; bOrs. Robt. Talbot (Esther), Ed-
monton: and Mrs, Will MacEwen
(Gertie), London: and two sons:
Garnet Murray, London; and Cecil
Murray. Exeter.
Mrs, Robt, Talbot and her daugh-
ter, Greta, Mrs, Wilson carne by
plane from Edmonton to be with
het' mother on the happyoccasion.
We all join in wishing Ms. Murray
many more happy birthdays.

Joanne Marie, infant daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George Jarmuth, was
baptized in St. Peter's Lutheran
Church at the Sunday morning ser-
vice by. Rev. W. Becker, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Mogh were the spon-
sors and the parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Dykeman of
Port Credit visited Mr. and Mrs. Al-
bert Querengesser and other rela-
tives over the weekend,
Mr, and Mrs. John Arbuckle are
on the staff at Edgewood Camp this
week.
Miss Velma Pomrenki accompan-
ied by Miss Grace Weitersen of
Bornholm left for Miss Pomrenki's
home at Emmerson, Manitoba.
Parent Night was held at the
church on Monday evening to re-
view the work of the children which
was made at Summer Vacation
School last week.

Ipperwash.

Mrs. Mary Dittmer has left to
visit with her daughter Mrs. Arthur
Bailey and Mr. Bailey in Toronto,
she accompanied Mr. and Mrs. John
Mogk of Bornholm,

and Mr. Ed Wesen'bei'g of Toronto
with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mogk, Mr.
Wesenberg remaining for some holi-
days.

M. and Mrs. Fred Scherbarth of
Detroit, who have been visiting

home after a two months' trip to
California.
Master Kenneth Klages, six-year-
old sen of Rev. and Mrs. Cecil
Klages, underwent an eye operation
