SPORT SHORTS Last Thursday night, May 22, the Seaforth Athletic Association held a banquet in the Community Centre for its three hockey teams it spon- sored. There were about one hund- red and seventy attending the ban- quet including the guests Bill Roth, Bruce Dale and Ken Ducharme of the Stratford Indians Allen Cup fin- alists, who spoke on their trip West and had some good advice for the younger players attending. J. Rox- borough, president of 0.H.A., gave a very interesting talk on some of the conditions found in hockey to- day. He warned the boys not to take hockey too seriously because only the best have ten years of pro hock- ey and only one of a hundred hock- ey players reach the professionals. He advised the boys to stick to their jobs and school unless a real oppor- tunity shows up. On the other hand he asked coaches to drop boys who are known as "Hockey Dums", who will not work but just lie around and play a little hockey, On Monday night this week the Egmondville soccer team took on the R.C.A.F. for the opening game of the season. The field was wet which didn't help the team since they hadn't any soccer boots. The score of 8-0 for the R.C.A.F. did not indicate the play of the game. Many sport fans hope to follow up the soccer series this year since ball is nil in Seaforth. FOOTBALL SCORES May 27 Walton 0 at Brussels 1. May 26, Ethel 1 at Atwood 2.
