of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Jewitt on
Sunday.

Mrs. Ross McGregor in the passing
of her mother, Mrs. Ferguson, of
Clifford.
Mrs. Verne Dale, Murray and
Muriel were in Stratford on Mon-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lawson and
son Reg. were in London on Sunday
visiting the foriner's daughter, Mrs.
E. F. Warren and Mr. Warren.
Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Leitch were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Medd
on Sunday.
Mrs. Jack Medd was in London on
Thursday to see her mother, Mrs.
Phillips, who is at present a patient
in the hospital there.
Sincere sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Elgin Trott in the death of her
mother, Mrs. Thos. Ferguson.
Services for Mrs. Robert Fergu-
son, 81, who died in Wingham Hos-
pital, will be conducted at the fam-
ily residence, Howick Township,
Thursday afternoon, by the Rev.
Ross Muir, and interment made in
Clifford Cemetery.
She was 'born at Brussels, but
had resided in Howick since her mar-
riage 52 years ago. She was a mem-
ber of Lakelet United Church.
Surviving besides her husband,
are .one son and two daughters, John
and Marion, at home; Mrs, Ross Mc-
Gregor, Seaforth; two brothers,
John and Thomas Bradwell, Clif-
ford, and a sister, Miss Annie Brad -
well, Howick,

Winthrop Football Club will hold
their annual meeting on Monday
might May 5th in the hall.
The W.M.S. and W.A. will hold
their regular meeting in the school-
room of the church on Wednesday,
May 7th at 2 p.m, (d.s.t.). Roll call
will be on "Mother" The delegates
will give their reports of the Pres-
byterial Please bring your new and
used clothing to this meeting for
the bale.
The helping Hand Mission Band
are having a special Mother's Day
program on Saturday, May 3rd, at 2
p.m. (daylight saving time). All the
ladies of the congregation are cor-
dially invited. The roll call will be a
verse on Mother's Day.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hawley have
returned home from California.
The young people of Cavan
Church gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ernie Toll one evening
last week to honor the newly-weds,
Mr. and Mrs. Don McClure. The
evening was spent in contests and
games after which Don and Joyce
were presented with a silver sand-
wich and pickle dish by Iris Byer -
mann. Don expressed their thanks.
A delicious lunch prepared by the
young people was served by Mrs.
Toll and Mrs. McClure,
Prior to the Montgomery family
leaving Winthrop, the Y.P.U. pre.
rented Betty, Irene, Ruth, and Mac
with Bibles as a token of apprecia-
tion for their faithfulness to the
Sunday School, Y.P.U. end Church.

Our seventh club meeting was held
at Margaret Rose Krauskopf's. Dor-
othy Ann called the meeting to order
and Gloria read the minutes, and is
also giving the demonstration for
our achievement day in Listowel.
Roll Call was answered by giving a
good reason for using liver. We dis-
cussed our food consumption chart
and achievement day. The demon-
stration was how to cook hamburger.
:Next week's meeting will be held at
Tomlinson's.

Beginning Sunday, May 4th, the
services in the United Church will
be held at 10:15 a.m. and Sunday
School at 11:15 a.m, for the summer
months.
A number of the members of the
Y.P.U. attended the banquet of the
Y.P.U, in Hensell on Monday even-
ing of this week.

spent the weekend at the home of
her parents.

The third meeting of the McKil-
lop Busy Beavers was held at the
home of Catharine Moylan on April
29th. Meeting opened with a song.
Minutes were read by June Smith
and roll call was answered by thir
teen girls, "A vegetable Garnish
that is different." Leaders Mrs. L.
Pryce and Mrs. J. Keyes, demonstra-
ted •how to prepare different salad
plates and garnishes. The next meet-
ing will be held at the •home of Alice
Ann Nixon on May 5. Meeting dos-
ed with God save the Queen.
