HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
The big spotlight of the week at
school is that the inspectors are com-
ing and exams start Wednesday, Ap-
ril 2. The teachers first wanted
them the last week of March but had
to postpone it a week because of the
Inspectors' visit.
This Thursday afternoon the Sea -
forth High talent show is being put
on at Exeter High. A complete pro-
gram hasn't been made up yet so
nothing is certain, but with all the
talent around S.H.D.S. we are sure
Exeter will see a good show.
In assembly this Wednesday, Beth
Boyd played her accordian and got
some lively numbers out of it.

The Voice OF Temperance
The only soundly Christian ap-
proach to strong drink is abstin-
ence. A man is responsible to God
and to Society to make the best
possible use of his strength and
his abilities. The chances are that
he will not do this if he muddles
his brain with alcohol. Abstinence
is one guarantee that he can meas-
ure up to this responsibility. Far
•the influence he exerts on others,
his example is his most effective
medium of influence. He may be
able to handle his liquor but in the
company there are some who are
fighting a lasing battle against liq-
uor and there may be young people
who have never touched it. If he is
considerate and if he has any con-
science about it he will abstain for
their sakes. In the last analysis ab-
stinence is the Christian approach
to strong drink.—Advt.

• The outstanding achievement by Massey -Harris in keeping the
prices of its Canadian -made products at a low level of increase over
1941, is clearly shown by the above chart of price indexes.
• All commodities are shown as 97.7% higher than 1941; raw materials
are 98.2% higher; average hourly rates of pay Massey -Harris Canadian
plants are 158.0% higher: yet Massey -Harris Canadianmade farm
implements have increased only 66.2%.
• The continued great world demand for labour-saving farm equip,
ment has given a volume permitting high operating efficiency in
relation to production and selling costs, making possible the partial
absorption of the increased costs of materials and labour.
• With the scarcity and high cost of experienced help, farmers find
in modern machinery the means to maintain high volume pro-
duction at low operating cost.
